Engkwentro – Gabun Play
Last February 16, 2011, in commemoration for the National Arts Month, was the start of the school’s theater play under the direction of Mr. Lito Casaje. It was a 3-day show. The first one was entitled Gabun. It is a story of two half-brothers who never had the chance to know each other, but fate brought them together because of their father’s death. The role of the older brother named Adrian Cavestany was played by Mondrian Sampang, a guest actor. The role of the younger brother named Jaime was played by Jonathan Cristobal, a 1st year HRM student here in La Consolacion College Manila. The story of the play revolves around them reminiscing their childhood lives; sharing their thoughts and memories about their father. It was a sad story because they grew not knowing each other and only met up because Adrian decided to personally tell Jaime that their father had already died.
Another story played is called Engkwentro: Ang Tagpuan. It is a story about a college male professor and his former student. The role of the professor named Manny was played by Mr. Gerard De Leon, an I.T. professor here in LCCM. The role of the former student named Sylvia was played by Ms. Andrea Fojas, an English professor here in LCCM. The story is about this two people whose love for each other stand the test of time. Their relationship did not ended well. Decades had past and they had both moved on with their lives. Then Manny faced a problem in the school. He’s being sued by her student for sexual harassment. The school found out about it and asked Manny to have an early retirement. Sylvia who now become a successful writer accepted the job not knowing that it is Manny’s position that she’s going to replaced.
