Strategy means 'a global plan to reach a long-term goal,'
Tactics, on the other hand, means a short term plan or behavior

One uses tactics (little tricks) in a strategy (long-term plan).

"Strategy is doing the right things, tactics is doing things right."
Tactics are the meat and bread of the strategy. They are the “doing” aspect that follows the planning. Tactics refer specifically to action. In the strategy phase of a plan, the thinkers decide how to achieve their goals. In other words they think about how people will act, i.e., tactics. They decide on what tactics will be employed to fulfill the strategy.
The tactics themselves are the things that get the job done. Strategies can comprise numerous tactics, with many people involved in attempting to reach an overall goal. While strategy tends to involve the higher ups of an organization; tactics tend to involve all members of the organization.

Goals ‘“ has the word ‘go’ in it. Your goals should go forward in a specific direction. However, goals are more about everything you accomplish on your journey, rather than getting to that distant point. Goals will often go into undiscovered territory and you therefore can’t even know where the end will be.
Objectives ‘“ has the word ‘object’ in it. Objects are concrete. They are something that you can hold in your hand. Because of this, your objectives can be clearly outlined with timelines, budgets, and personnel needs. Every area of each objective should be firm.
Examples of Goals and Objectives
Goals ‘“ I want to be a better ball player. I want to learn more about Chinese history. I want to maximize my professional performance.
Objectives ‘“ I want to memorize the periodic table before my next quiz. I want to increase my sales by 10% this month. I want learn to play ‘Freebird’ on the guitar.

I recently heard a great example of the difference between a plan and a strategy, using sports. This example serves to illustrate the difference between a soccer team’s plan or strategy to score a goal.
A soccer team with a plan to score a goal might begin with a throw-in to another specific player. The ball would then be passed to a designated offensive player who would then be responsible for shooting the ball into the goal. The succession of moves would be deliberate and would not be adjusted when risks or obstacles to the plan were presented.
A soccer team with a strategy to score a goal might also begin a play with a throw-in one of a few different teammates. The main idea would then be to move the ball forward and pass to open offensive players who would then shoot the ball at the goal. The succession of moves would be open for adaptation and change if the ball were intercepted or if other players were open for receiving the ball.
Value n satisfaction customer value - is defined as difference between what a customer gets from a product, and what he or she has to give in order to get it.

customer satisfaction - is defined as degree of satisfaction provided by the goods or services of a firm as measured by the number of repeat customers.
Let's say for example, I own a cookie shop and make cookies. After deciding to change the cookie recipe, customers appear to be enjoying and buying more cookies. I haven't sat down to calculate if there was an actual increase in sales, but I have the impression that the newer recipe is increasing customer satisfaction. For this reason, I can say that the perceived value of the newer cookies is higher than the older cookies because they are capable of satifying more of the customers wants and needs (taste in the case of cookies
Segmentation helps you define your population in smaller group or segments. And that is its basic role. Take the example of someone who wants to market Shoes. For him the complete population is a market. However, he will further divide them into segments by categorizing them as Young, Middle aged, Old etc. Thus now he has his segments in hand.
Once you know your segments, you start targeting those segments. Thus targeting can be said to be a sub concept of Segmentation. Targeting plays a critical role in your marketing mix. If you are targeting the youngsters segment, then your products need to be more creative, more colorful and cheaper. But if you are targeting the middle aged working classes, your product needs to be elegant, it is ok to be high priced as they have buying power, and your promotions need to be different. Thus targeting will affect the Marketing mix.
Once you have your segment, and you know whom you need to target, you begin with the subtle art of positioning. Continuing with the above example – You have the youngsters segment, you are targeting them for colorful and hip shoes, but at the same time you have a competition in the same segment. So how do you take on that competition? It is by positioning yourself differently from the competition. You can position yourself as a quality brand with mid pricing, a cheap use & throw brand with higher quantities and movement, or a high quality brand with high pricing for the Sec A class. Where targeting mainly affects the Product and Pricing phase of the Marketing mix, Positioning mainly affects the promotions and placement stage of marketing mix.

...Asha Ahmed English 1100 John Acker 8:00 am 3/14/15 Writing Project 3 Rough Draft Lowe’s: Bathroom tile When people want to fix something in their house they either: do it them selves or hire a professional. Do-it-yourself workers often save more money than if they hired a professional worker. Undoubtedly, the Lowe’s company target do-it-yourself customers who are on a fixed budget because they aim to have the lowest prices. The Lowe’s Bathroom tile ad’s main technique is using an everyday-type person to appeal to a large audience. Lowe's use of an unskilled character in an everyday situation makes the ad relatable to people because most people are not professionals, and it effectively reaches everyday homeowners. Their goal is to provide the best equipment with low prices so that customers can rely on their products for small or big home improvements. When people want to redesign or fix their homes, they either stop by at the Lowe’s store or The Home Depot store for supplies and equipment. The Home Depot Company has always been a competition for Lowe’s Company ever since they gained popularity in the home improvement hardware. Even though both stores sell almost the same things, the two seem to target very different audiences. The Home Depot stores “appeal to professional customers such as contractors and tradesmen” while the Lowe’s store “appeals to a larger do-it-yourself audience”. Both stores have distinct goals, which is to attract a certain audience to make more...

...The Muslims had just managed to drive away one of the biggest armies they had ever faced. This army had the sole intention of crushing the Muslims of Madina and ending the religion of Islam. The Muslims had strengthened their defences by digging a huge trench that stopped the enemy in their tracks. The army tried its best to cross and attack Madina but the Muslims fought them off with their customary bravery. Bani Quraizah lived within Madina and towards the end of the battle; they joined the ranks of the enemy to fight against the Muslims. This opened a second front against the Muslims. These actions considerably weakened the Muslims and could easily have caused the downfall of Madina. Bani Quraizah had a treaty with the Muslims of working together to defend Madina against any aggressors. They had broken this treaty at its most critical time. The army of the kuffar became divided and Allah sent strong winds which destroyed their resolve to fight the Muslims. The army departed the following morning leaving Bani Quraizah to face the consequences of their treachery. As the Muslims returned to their homes, the Angel Jibrael came to the Prophet (pbuh) and told him to join the angels in fighting against the Bani Quraizah. The Angels went ahead to shake Bani Quraizah, putting fear into their hearts. The Muslims followed behind to fight them because of their treachery and breach of the treaty. The Prophet (pbuh) gathered all the Muslims and announced to make immediate preparation...

That One Story

...It’s the first day of class and I already want to go home. You want to know why? I don’t know either. I just don’t feel like going to class today, but I have to. I went to my first class. And guess what? The teacher was boring me to death. I wished this semester was over because of her. I sighed. Then someone from behind me tapped my shoulders. “Yes?” I said as I turned to look at the person. Oh, a girl. “Sighing on the first day? That’s not good.” Then she smiled. Okay. That was weird. I was like ‘are we close or something?’, though I didn’t tell her that straight to her face. I just laughed. I’m not good with talking to girls, especially those who are prettier or cuter than me, even though I’m a girl too. I get intimidated by them. I’m the kind of girl that’s more comfortable with guys. “Is there someone sitting beside you? Is it okay if I sit there?” “It’s okay, I don’t mind” “Thank you!” and then she sat. We didn’t talk the whole time after she sat beside me. Maybe she doesn’t like me. I didn’t want to talk to her anyway. She seemed like a bitch. I sighed again, and then the teacher dismissed us. I was in a hurry to get out of that room but someone tapped my shoulders, again. And it was her, again. “What’s your next class?” she asked. “Its Business Communication, but I still have a 2-hour break before it starts. What about you?” “That’s my next class too; I think we have the same schedule. Mind if I look at your schedule?” “Sure.” Then I gave it to her. After...

Renewable Energy: the Solution for the Future’s Energy Needs

...Introduction Renewable energy as defined in the glossary of “Renewable Energy; Myths and Obstacles” is a source of energy that regenerates over a period of time. However, this period of time is significantly shorter than the time it takes for nonrenewable energy sources to regenerate. The most common nonrenewable energy source is fossil fuel. Usually renewable energy depends on the sun’s energy to regenerate; solar energy, wind power and hydropower are examples of renewable energy sources that depend on the sun. Renewable energy, also known as clean energy, is becoming a fast growing phenomenon. President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, mentioned in a recent speech that USA spends nearly one billion dollars a day on purchasing oil from other countries. He also stressed on the fact that air pollution caused by those fossil fuels is becoming one of the biggest worldwide problems. On June 15 in the year 2010, he said, “Now, there are costs associated with this transition. And some believe we can’t afford those costs right now. I say we can’t afford not to change how we produce and use energy— because the long-term costs to our economy, our national security, and our environment are far greater.” Renewable energy is the solution for high-energy demands because it is eco-friendly, economical and inexhaustible amongst many other reasons. However, some might argue that it is not reliable and is inefficient. Ecofriendly Renewable energy is considered environment...

D1 - Analyse How Cultural Variation Can Influence Communication

...D1 - Analyse how cultural variation can influence communication Handshake The handshake is used in England as a gesture. This gesture is used in England as a form of a greeting between two people. This is for when they engages with each other. The handshake may also be used when a deal is made between two parties on something. This influences communication in a positive way as these two parties are interacting with one another and also getting along with each other. If they get along with each other, it will create effective communication as when a service user and a care worker handshake, neither of them will get offended in anyway which helps them cooperate and network with each other more effectively. However on the other hand, this may effect communication negatively because in other cultures and countries such as France, a handshake is normally quick and crisp as this is practised like this in general. A firm long handshake in china is often considered impolite in France. Women in France offer their hand only in business and social settings. This can have a positive influence on communication as people would come together and interact with one another cooperatively. However, it can also make a negative impact because if the handshake is too long, people will end up becoming offended. Therefore, when a service user and a care worker come together, they will have to cautious so that no one gets offended as it may lead to the service user unwilling to communicate and awkwardness...
