Please accept this resume and cover letter as my application for the Alberta Indigenous Internship Program (1035556) listed on the Jobs Alberta database. I believe that my education and work experience qualify me for this position.

I am a recent graduate of the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Arts with a Major in History and Minor in Psychology. Being that my coursework and research focused on western Canadian history, I have gained extensive knowledge of the histories and cultures of many of Alberta’s Indigenous peoples. During my studies I developed strong critical thinking and problem solving skills, …show more content…
Having worked in a variety of organizations, the diversity of which have provided me strong inter-personal skills and the ability to work independently and as an effective team member. Also, I have educational and lived experiences with Indigenous peoples of Alberta. My program’s focus on Indigenous peoples in western Canada has given me exceptional insight into their distinct histories and modern cultures. While there is still much for me to learn about Alberta’s Indigenous communities, I have a solid foundation in which to build on and a passion to continue learning. Lastly, my positive, open-minded, and cooperative nature helps me to create positive and constructive work environments and develop reciprocal relationships. I am a supportive, effective, and approachable colleague who can integrate seamlessly into a variety of work …show more content…
I recognize the important role, and growing influence, Indigenous peoples have in Alberta and believe that the many challenges Indigenous peoples face represent opportunities for learning and growth. Through my understanding of Indigenous history I have empathy and understanding of the challenges facing them as individuals and communities. I want to be part of a team that brings about positive change for Indigenous communities, and helps Alberta grow stronger together.

If selected for a position, I am confident that this internship would have a profound impact on my career. To be under the mentorship of professionals in the public sector and further discover the practical applications of my skills would prove to be an invaluable asset to my future career. As I view a career in the public sector as an excellent position in which I can positively impact the lives of many, I would ultimately like to work in service of the people of Alberta and use my skills to support constructive change in the
