Alfred Deakin was significant because he was an Australian politician who was the secondary Prime Minister of Australia, in office for three different terms, He had been a leader for the progress of Australian federation. Deakin was born in Melbourne, and went to the University of Melbourne then went on to train as a barrister. He was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly in 1879, and in 1883 he turned out to be a government minister. Deakin was a major provider to the foundation of liberal reforms in the community.
