Chapter 1:
3. The transformation process is when you take the various inputs and transform them into outputs. An advertising agency would transform the time of its staff into an advertising campaign. A TV station would use the time of its production crew, the video equipment, and the studio to produce a news story. A bank would use the time of a teller, an input computer, and a bank branch to accept a deposit.
8. A service organization primarily produces an intangible product and they typically have high customer contact. A manufacturing organization primarily produces a tangible product and they typically have low customer contact. Ford is a manufacturing organization, because they make automobiles and customers have little contact with the operations and they can create an inventory of vehicles. McDonalds is a service organization, because customers can go directly to the restaurant where they are served by the staff.

Chapter 2: 1. Operations function is very important as it is responsible for effective management of the resources of an organization to produce the final product or service. It helps specify the design and how the individual resources are to be used in order to support and overall business strategy. The changes could help the bank, because if the ideas to improve customer service work then that will draw more customers in to their bank. If the changes do not improve customer service then that may hurt the bank and draw customers away. 2. Some changes that could be made would be the following:
Opt for a lease, because rented office space is costly. It should be in a well-known place. They should reduce the interest in loan accounts. Show the difference for service and sales of bank products. Being fully computerized will help more customers. Opening customer care units to serve the people, which will
