Alliance Geotechnical Services is a company that deals with Seismic Data Processing, by utilizing IT as well as Geophysics professionals prior to the data processing stage. The data processing stage deals with large sets of data which the size of raw recording data itself can be reach up to 100s of Terabytes or more (Buffalo Technical Brief, 2010).

Besides, the advancing of the technologies nowadays has lead to establish of many sophisticated methods in processing to produce better result thus increasing the amount of data that need to be process and manage by the company as well. Therefore, here comes the important of NAS systems for the company.

Otherwise, handling data load without NAS system can cause few problems such as the scattered in data storage arrangement and no back up data when storage down. This may lead to the delay respond to the client and thus will give bad image to the company.

As a company that have data processing as one of the expertise, Alliance Geotechnical Services needs a server that have bigger storage size to support the amount of data that need to be process and manage. Unfortunately, for a small medium enterprise such as AGS to have a powerful server with affordable price is very limited. Based on the observation and investigation that has been done from the previous research for the issue, it shows that many studies are needed in order to find the solution for this issue. Therefore, this report wills presents and discuss further about the project and the result of the studies that has be carried out respecting to this issue. 1.2 Problem …show more content…
Here, to have a NAS system for the company is a must but to find a good NAS system with limited capital cost is quite a challenge. For a SME, the NAS systems need to be low in cost, simple to operate, can back up the data as well as scalable where the additional storage can be added when required.

Thus, this project will help to find solution for small and medium organization to face the challenge in order for them to keep survive and be able to compete with other giant company in their business. From this project, new alternative will be introduce by creating new NAS system with affordable cost for the SME but still can give same result as the expensive system.
1.3 Objective to the study
Seismic data processing stage is one of the crucial processes in oil and gas industry in order to find the hydrocarbon. Dealing with larger size of seismic data needs a systematic storage and management system that known as network-attached storage (NAS) as it can be connect to the network.
