...As the brand manager of Allround cold medicine, there were many decisions that I had to be a part of such as, reformulation, brand building, strategy, line extensions, introducing new products, allocating budgets for promotional programs and advertising, allocating the proper sales force across all channels, and maintain a good relationship with customers and retailers over the company’s last eight periods. The brand focus is to maintain a profitable, good image, maturity, and market leading cold and allergy remedy in the over the-country (OTC) market. Allround at period Zero was being sold at $5.30, and it was costing us $1.24. by the end of period Eight the selling price went up to $7, due to the inflation rate of every period. After the...

...Introduction OHS plays an important part in maintaining a healthy and positive workplace. Lack of effective OHS policies can lead to a wide range of harmful effects on the productivity of an organization. Accidents in the workplace can cause substantial losses to an organization’s human capital, create massive losses in labour productivity and decreases the organisations reputation in the market (Saridakis & Cooper, 2013). Studies have revealed that Human Resource Management plays an important part in an organizations ability to maintain adequate OHS (Saridakis & Cooper, 2013). The HR department’s duty is to align HR practices with organisations OHS goals; this could be in the form of recruitment or training policies (Faulkiner, 2009). HR plays an important part in the Airline industry, as there are no production lines, human capital is an organisations greatest asset and a company’s performance relies heavily on how cohesively their employees can work together (Boyd, 2003). The following will be looking at the Big Red Kangaroo Airlines (BRKA) case study in regards to Pernilla’s injury, how/why she was injured, how the organisation could have prevented the injury and the organisations responsibility. Identify how/why she was injured As Identified in the case study BRKA have started employing cost cutting HR policies in order to compete with budget airlines. This has led BRKA to hire young, attractive and inexperienced flight attendants. Pernilla being one of...

...Personal Property Case Study The case study “Parking Lot’s Liability” is an actual court case, Allright, Inc. v. Strauder. Plaintiff brought suit alleging that as a result of defendant's negligence, his automobile was stolen from a parking lot operated by defendant. Signs were located throughout the parking lot which stated that the lot closed at 6 o'clock p.m. and that anyone returning after that time could pick up their keys at another parking lot operated by the defendant at a another location. He was aware of the time when he left the car at the station and that the signs and the claim ticket said the lot closed at 6 o'clock. So indeed a bailment was created. The definition of bailment is a transaction in which an owner transfers his or her personal property (in this case his car) to another to be held, stored, delivered, or for some other purpose. Title to the property does not transfer. (Cheeseman, 2010) The plaintiff gave his keys to the defendant’s employee expecting the defendant’s company to park and store the car until the plaintiff returned for it, at which time the plaintiff would pay for the services obtained. This is considered a mutual benefit bailment. A bailment for the mutual benefit of the parties is created when there is an exchange of performances between the parties. A bailment for the repair of an item is a bailment for mutual benefit when the bailee receives a fee in exchange for his or her work. (legal-dictionary.com, 2013) Three elements...

...Jim was almost discovered by other white folk who could’ve recaptured him and sold him to new people, Huck protected him by making up a story that his dadwas really sick. Later,Huck was struggling with his views on whether he should tell Miss Watson about Jimbeing found by some people and capturedor not. After writing a note that would alert Miss Watson of Jim’s capture, he rememberedhis friendship withJimfriendship:“I’d see him standing my watch...stead of calling me, so I could go on sleeping...and would always call me honey, and pet me, and do everything he could think of for me, and how good he always was...and then I happen to look around, and see that paper...and then I says to myself: ‘Allright, then, I’ll go to hell’-and I tore it up.”(215).He decided that Jim’s freedom and friendship was more important to him than the things that could happen to him. He showed his real loyalty toward Jim when he helped to free him from the Phelpseven though itwas risky.Over all, Huck found a wonderful friend in Jim even though their society would see it as wrong because Jim was a slave and Huck was...

...Her Story 2011 Jedee Santil Domiclong 1/1/2011 A skinny girl in her hospital dress was staring at the horizon, feeling the cold breeze of November on the edge of a cliff. Haering the wind, and the waves of the water crashing to the rocks. Her name is Trissia. "Why? Why did You take everything from me? Did I do something wrong? I trusted You but You betrayed me? What did I ever disgrace You for?" She smiled bitterly and look up at the dark sky. "I remember 8 years ago when You took my everything. We were 6 in the family, my parents, twin younger sister at age 7, my youngest brother at age 5 and me, the eldest at 10. My parents were wealthy, we live in a two-storey house with a lot of flowers outside, we've always have a close bond. One day mom and dad went to a business conference, so I volunteered myself to look out for my siblings, I love taking care of them, my parents trusted me so I performed my duty well, not until in the late afternoon. Three men in black with matching masks came through the door by smashing it. I was shocked, I felt fear, my sisters and brother were taking a nap that time, I didn't know what to do that I couldn't move, they started to look something, they turned the house upside down, I knew then that they were up to no good at all. I prayed silently, I know He wouldn't let something happen to us. Yes of course, He wouldn't let something bad happen to us. Minutes later they got furious because they seemed not to find what they were...

...Progression of black rights during 1945-1955 can be clearly seen but was a long and slow process, although the awareness of racial equality dramatically increased. Various factors were involved. Factors such as: presidential involvement and the use of media post WW2.We also see improvements in education and NAACP. More importantly how the NAACP and southern states responded to these factors, later shaping the result to black civil rights. During this time America saw two presidents come to power: Harry S. Truman (1945-1953) and Dwight D. Eisenhower (1953-1961). Both of which affected the civil rights movements in different ways. Truman who was vice president to Roosevelt was elected officially in 1948, Born in Missouri in the late 19th century he had been brought up in an area that saw racism towards coloured people as a natural occurrence, and this was also the case for Truman. Truman had first encountered blacks as family servants with his ancestors previously owning slaves. Truman had told his sweet heart Bess that: “One man is as good as another, “So long as he is honest, decent and not a Nigger or a Chinaman”. (Sanders, 2003, p60) So he is an unlikely candidate to eventually be bringing the lack of rights of the blacks to light and standing behind the civil rights movement later in his career. With the number of racial murders on the rise in the south, Truman set up and implemented a civil rights committee to produce a report “Secure These Rights” brought attention to the...

...crowds, escaping the infected city. I could feel the cold winter wind blowing against my face as I checked my watch that said that I was moving at 50 MPH it was unbelievable that now kids can go as fast as only cars could go. It has been simply an hour since I have left the city and I made it to the point that it was only the small towns to remain in the surroundings and the watch was saying that it is 20 degrees outside and it didn’t mix with the exposure and wind. But, in just over 2 hours before I could know it I had made to Albany. I shot my mom a call. “Ring, ring, ring.” “Hi Warner” She said in a stressed voice. “Hi mom, where in Albany should I meet you I’m there.” I questioned her cheerfully in order to assure her that everything is allright. “Let’s meet in front of the Capitol Building.” She said with rejoice in her voice. “Okay, love you see you there.” I sputtered. It took just a 2 minute drive from the city limits to get to the capitol building. The New York State Capitol Building is interesting because it doesn’t have a golden dome like that of most capitol buildings, but instead is a big castle reminding me of the Chateau Frontniac in Quebec City, Canada. It wasn’t all that smart of a decision to meet there because when I got to the street that the Capitol is on I could see the huge crowds mobbing the surrounding blocks. Also, the extremely large screens that were installed on the outside of the buildings quite recently were showing the News and it was saying that New...

...The ABC’s of Failure – Getting Rid of the Noise in Your System For the past 40 years, I have observed many companies, including DuPont (where I spent 27 years) pursuing planned maintenance with the standard tools of planned maintenance: inspections, planning, scheduling, materials procurement, CMMS systems, etc. with the same results. They succeed for a while and get their percent planned and scheduled maintenance up to the 80+ only to see that drop back later to 60 I am amazed how many of the companies we work with have had this experience. This pattern of behavior has led us to conclude that the reason for this experience is that only 60% of the normal work of maintenance is inherently plannable. The rest of the work is created by random acts of what we are now calling care-lessness. The sites where we see people break this pattern and achieve 92% to 96% planned maintenance for the long term without regressing, are the ones who eliminate the inherently unplannable work. Of course, this cannot be done by maintenance alone. Everyone who does work at a site contributes to the defects that create the unplannable work, and therefore everyone must participate in eliminating the defects that create the 40% of the work that is unplannable. In the diagram below we attempt to more clearly articulate the true significance of Defect Elimination by outlining the ABC’s of failure. Fundamentally, failures happen because things that exist are not perfect. To reduce failures we must eliminate...

...PART A – Plan the project Most athletes know that getting enough rest after exercise is essential to high-level performance, but many still over train and feel guilty when they take a day off. The body repairs and strengthens itself in the time between workouts, and continuous training can actually weaken the strongest athletes. Rest days are critical to sports performance for a variety of reasons. Some are physiological and some are psychological. Rest is physically necessary so that the muscles can repair, rebuild and strengthen. For recreational athletes, building in rest days can help maintain a better balance between home, work and fitness goals. The main objective of my project of this term is to build up a recovery program for athletes. That is what I am gonna try to study into the basics. Sport is not only about performance, there is a lot of other factors that influence the performance, from the psychological aspect to the physiological condition. The recovery phase and rest is one of the main subject that help to improve athlete s performance. Human is not a machine, we all need rest to restart our body again to reach the performance we want. Rest is not only behind higher performance, recovery periods prevent injuries that are caused by overtraining or a trauma. My project is about recovery program for a specific athlete, and how it can influence his performance. I try to build up a recovery program for him, that is suitable for his possibilities and capacities...
