...Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington D.C Donna M. Gerron American InterContinental University Abstract It was a very hard decision deciding on which artifact to write about. It was a choice between the King Center in Atlanta Georgia and the King Memorial in Washington. The King Center has a wealth of information about Dr. King and his fight for nonviolent solutions for African Americans to be considered equal among all men. This paper is about the newest addition to the King legacy, King Memorial Monument in Washington D.C. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington D.C For this week’s IP we were to write about a modern day cultural artifact that best represents the culture we live in today. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a brilliant man who stood up to fight for equality for African Americans in this country. Cultural Background Most people are already aware of who Dr. King was and what he stood for. His legacy will forever affect our society. Because without him we would not have an African American president, Blacks will probably still be treated as though they are second class citizens. Dr. King arranged marches, boycotts, and sit-ins. Even though he and his followers were often met with violence he continued to not lift a finger in anger towards anyone. Unfortunately some people still do think they was they did in the 60’s because they were taught that way of thinking by their parents or grandparents. Dr. King paved the way for Blacks...

...In Time (Movie Review) In Time, released on 2011, is a science fiction film directed by Andrew Niccol, starring Amanda Seyfried, Justin Timberlake and Cillian Murphy. This movie has an interesting and creative concept that is still relevant today. It conjures up a future where time is money and money is time. Benjamin Franklin’s infamous quote literally turned into a currency. Everyone is born with a luminous digital clock etched on their forearm and they are genetically engineered to stop aging by the time they reach twenty-five. At that point in time, everyone has one year left to live and their clock starts counting down. Because of this, you must work to acquire more time to live. If you have thousands, even millions of years stored in your clock, you’re considered rich. On the other hand, the poor people who have little time in their hands, strive each day in order to survive. In some cases, others steal time. By simply clasping your hand with another person, you could easily transfuse or share minutes or years of your clock. When your time runs out and your watch ticks down to zero, you’ll basically die. Will Salas, played by Justin Timberlake, was a ghetto-dweller until he met a rich man named Henry Hamilton. Henry Hamilton was weary and despairing for he had already lived for more than a hundred years and so he endowed Will with over a century of his time, leaving only seconds for himself. Having so much time opened a lot of opportunities for Will. He travelled to another...

...Antares is a red supergiant star in the Milky WayGalaxy and the sixteenth brightest star in the night time sky. It is sometimes listed as 15th brightest, if the two brighter components of the Capella quadruple star system are counted as one star. Along with Aldebaran, Regulus, and Fomalhaut, Antares comprises the group known as the 'Royal stars of Persia'. It is one of the four brightest stars near the ecliptic. It is the brightest star in the constellation Scorpius, and is often referred to as "the heart of the scorpion". Antares is a slow irregular variable star with an average magnitude of +1.09.[3] Antares is the brightest, most massive, and most evolved stellar member of the nearest OB association. Antares is a member of the Upper Scorpius subgroup of the Scorpius-Centaurus Association, which contains thousands of stars with mean age 11 million years at a distance of approximately 145 parsecs (470 light years). Antares is visible in the sky all night around May 31 of each year, when the star is atopposition to the Sun. At this time, Antares rises at dusk and sets at dawn as seen at the equator. For approximately two to three weeks on either side of November 30, Antares is not visible in the night sky, because it is near conjunction with the Sun;[13] this period of invisibility is longer in the Northern Hemisphere than in the Southern Hemisphere, since the star'sdeclination is significantly south of the celestial equator. Antares has a secondary, or companion star, Antares...

...is important both in clinical practice, where it will influence management, and in research, where the validity of findings may be compromised if studies include (different) conditions," Dr. Carl Counsell, of the University of Aberdeen, UK, and colleagues write. The report describes 66 patients who were followed for at least one year after an initial diagnosis of "possible or definite parkinsonian syndrome." After follow-up of around 29 months, the clinical diagnosis had changed in 22 patients (33 percent). Most of the changes (82 percent) occurred in the first year. Reason for the modified diagnoses included development of additional clinical features, early thinking impairment, x-ray results, poor response to drug therapy, and lack of disease progression. More than a third of those who were misdiagnosed with Parkinson's disease were eventually determined to have a related problem called dementia with Lewy...

...Reexamination and revise of the empirical result from SANJEEV BHOJRAJ, PAUL HRIBAR, MARC PICCONI, and JOHN McINNIS: Making Sense of Cents: An Examination of Firms Shenglun Shi 2011 M.S. Information Systems, CIMS, New York University I. Theoretical Foundation: The trading strategy implied by Bhojraj, Hribar, Picconi and McInnis’s paper from The Journal of Finance VOL. LXIV, NO. 5 • OCTOBER 2009, was to distinguish the missers, who missed analyst forecasts by one cent, and the beaters, who beat analyst forecasts by one cent. The original Idea suggested that the stock market performance of the missers will outperform that of the beaters in the long run due to the myopic behavior of beatercompanies’ management. My strategy was to simplify and replicate the result by removing most of the other restrictions placed in the original paper, such as the restriction of market cap and industry. My construction of the strategy is as follows: Pick up the S&P 100 composite index stocks and compare the analyst estimation of Earnings Per Share (EPS) to the announced EPS by individual company. If the actual EPS beat the estimation by one cent (The Beaters), we sell short the stock in the threeyear horizon. If the actual EPS miss the estimation by one cent (The Missers), we buy the stock and hold for three years. Note that the portfolio of investment is equally weighted between all component stocks. Further examination of the data shows somehow very contrasting result: For the beaters, it is...
