The Rassias method suggests to the student the excitement. He believed languages must be spoken. However, the traditional class never allowed the student to speak no more than four times, “like learning mathematics without examples”. After he graduated, he decided to combine acting and teaching together, which exists as Rassias method nowadays. As he believed, the strategy was to maximize the number of times each student speaks aloud in new languages. Also, I assume that this method is similar to the desuggestopedia method. Although, the vocabulary is emphasized in the desuggestopedia method, Rassias and desuggestopedia method emphasized in speaking. The way makes students to speak without afraid, such as; the New York City policemen example is to push them to the limit to speak to solve the problem. However, desuggestopedia method makes the students feel comfortable and relax to speak and attend the class easily; Rassias method is little bit harsher for the students. Even if it is an imaginary situation, there might be some people who cannot act the way the teacher wants, so pushing the students to the limit may not as good as desuggestopedia. But I believe the dramatization makes the students to focus more in the class and more they speak more they learn. In addition to this, in the classic class when the students who may not focus on class and failed to catch up the course blamed, however, Rassias claimed that the teachers and actors must get the attention of the students and memorize is bad for students. I partially agree with this statement, still I believe that the best way to learn other languages are understand the language without memorizing, we never learn the grammar of the mother tongue but still we can use it perfectly. Although, we can use mother tongue easily, there are some point we cannot understand in other languages, some people may think it is grammar or vocabulary which we need some point of memorizing. Every time we memorize something we eventually forget the things we memorized, as the Chinese philosopher Confucius, “if you make me do something, I will never forget it because I will understand it”. I agree with this phrase, which is the best way to teach not only languages but also all other things. To make students focus in excitement and the familiarity with the culture of the country whose language is being studied, the Rassias method is another fine method to teach students.
