General ethical norms encompass truthfulness, honesty, integrity, respect for others, fairness, and justice. They relate to all aspects of life, including business and finance. Financial ethics is, therefore, a subset of general ethics. Ethical norms are essential for maintaining stability and harmony in social life, where people interact with one another. Recognition of others' needs and aspirations, fairness, and cooperative efforts to deal with common issues are, for example, aspects of social behavior that contribute to social stability. In the process of social evolution, we have developed not only an instinct to care for ourselves but also a conscience to care for others. There may arise situations in which the need to care for ourselves runs into conflict with the need to care for others. In such situations, ethical norms are needed to guide our behavior. As Demsey (1999) puts it: "Ethics represents the attempt...

...What is Critical Theory?DefinitionGenerally, Critical Theory is a broad approach to challenging and destabilizing established knowledge. In a more focused sense, Critical Theory comes out of the German 'Frankfurt School,' (who called it Critical Theory of Society or Critical Social Theory)which emphasizes that all knowledge is historical and biased, and that 'objective' knowledge is illusory.DiscussionCritical Theory starts from Marx and Freud and expands through the 20th century to cover areas such as literary criticism, linguistics, semiotics, psychology, philosophy, feminism, screen theory, and includes methods such as structuralism, post-structuralism, deconstruction and postmodernism.Critical Theory is such a huge area, it is almost impossible to cover it in total depth. This section is based on an extension of a study done as a part of a postgraduate university course in psychology. | What is literary criticism? Literary criticism has multiple functions. It is used as a vehicle to interpret or analyze various types of literature, including poetry, novels, and plays. There are many different types, or schools, of literary criticism that can be applied to works of literature. Critical essays are the most common form of literary criticism, and they are generally found in scholarly journals or in books of collected essays or anthologies. ...Low GI Diabetic Rice Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is one of the degenerative diseases which its prevalence continues to increase. Now Bangladesh ranked 10th in the world as a country with over 7 (seven) million diabetic patients and a growth of 5% - 6 % per year. The alarming fact is that over half the number of patients is still undiagnosed, though the disease can be controlled in around 70 per cent of the cases. Strict diet is often done to control blood glucose levels by reducing and even avoiding rice consumption because rice is considered as hyperglycemic food (can raise blood glucose level quickly) and replacing it with tubers. Whereas rice has a range of Glycemic Index value (GI), from low to high GI depending on the species and varieties. Rices that raise blood glucose level quickly have high GI levels, whereas with low GI will raise blood glucose levels slowly. Glycemic Index (GI) The number listed next to each food is its glycemic index. This is a value obtained by monitoring a person’s blood sugar after eating the food. The value can vary slightly from person to person and from one type or brand of food and another. A noticeable difference is the GI rating of Special-K which produced considerably different results in tests in the US and Australia, most likely resulting from different ingredients in each location. Despite this slight variation, the index provides a good guide to which foods you should be eating and which foods to avoid. The glycemic index range...

...Rent-A-Center entered into. It was a rental agreement. Rental agreements are not considered consumer leases, as a result, the case more than likely will be dismissed. 26.7 Fair Debt Collection In reviewing the facts of the case, here is what we know: Mr. Juras was a student at Montana State University. He took out student loans to help pay for his tuition from the school. At the end of his time with the school, he had an outstanding balance of over $5000. Mr. Juras would later default on these loans. The school would then sell the debt to Aman Collection Services. Aman would win judgment against Mr. Juras, which he refused to pay. Mr. Juras would later move to California. A VP from Aman, called Mr. Juras before 8 am PST twice stating that if the debt was not satisfied, he would not receive his college transcript. Mr. Juras would sue Aman stating that the subsequent calls before 8 am violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. The VP of Aman, Mr. Gloss stated that he forgot about the time difference when he made those calls. Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, debt collectors are forbidden from using threatening, false, and or misleading representations in order to gain payment. ...Disorders and Stroke to become an official criterion that can be diagnosed on its own. Once this became an official criteria, scientist and physicians were able to detect and confirm that there are variants of Guillian-Barré Syndrome. The three main subsets of GBS are Acute Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyradiculopathy (AIDP), Acute Motor Axonal Neuropathy (AMAN), and Acute Motor and Sensory Neuropathy (AMSAN). AIDP is the most common form in Caucasians (Hardy, Blum, McCombe, & Reddel, 2011). As hinted by the name, AIDP causes demyelination and this is how it distinguishes itself from the other forms. It also has a negative effect on the sensory nervous system. Scientist believe the effects are antibody- mediated as well as cell-mediated. Contrary to AMAN, it is unclear which antigens are targeted. Next, AMAN is known for its axonal pathology and lack of sensory nerve involvement. AMAN is most common in Northern China. In this form, the nodes of Ranvier are attacked by the macrophages. The result of the damaged axons is usually a temporary blockade in conduction. AMSAN is the most severe form of GBS. It is similar to AMAN in the fact that it attacks the nodes of Ranvier and it axonal pathology; However, AMSAN also includes the involvement of dorsal nerve roots and sensory fibers. One of the first common symptoms of GBS is tingling and/or weakness in the legs. Conversely, there are several different symptom responses once the disease begins to affect the body more. Some include...
