Women have always been stuck in a society where you have to look a certain way to be considered beautiful. Society has developed unimaginable standards for women. Today women are more susceptible, they see these images of women on all platforms of social media on a broad scale and to look at celebrities like Kylie Jenner and try to copy who they are and what they have, such as multiple forms of cosmetic facial surgery & body modification. For instance, Amanda Rey a writer for the Art Institutes went in deep about what the beauty Industry does to convince women to buy products. “By presenting idealized images, beauty product and fashion advertisers seek to persuade customers that they will become new and improved if they use their product or wear their clothes” (Rey 1). …show more content…
Then the beauty industry capitalizes on it, promoting ads even endorsing athletes and celebrities to convince young girls and women that they need to purchase all these items to be beautiful or accepted. A writer Omatseye talked about how a person can really perceive beauty and that we all have our own definition of beauty. “ We all seek approval, even if it’s a subconscious desire; everyone wants to be deemed acceptable”(Omatseye). All anyone wants is to be accepted and to not feel out of place, but also love to feel love from within which isn't something someone else can give. I believe that women should not allow society to dictate what they should be doing to achieve “perfection” and that they can't give in to the unrealistic images the beauty industry

Celebrity Role Models. Yes or No?

...break laws. Often, celebrities are seen in the media behaving inappropriately. Miley Cyrus has been seen twerking on a teddy bear during a music award ceremony. Amanda Bynes has caught a dog on fire and twerked on a police officer. Justin Beiber egged a house. When in the public eye, celebrities do not act appropriately, and this is not what people need to look at as a mentor. Celebrities are often caught using drugs. Alex Rodriguez was recently caught using steroids while participating in the Major League. Whitney Houston overdosed on cocaine a few years ago before a concert. Amanda Bynes is a known current cocaine user. Using drugs is not what our society needs to look for in a role model. When celebrities think they have immunity they break laws and go to jail. Ray Rice was accused of beating his wife. Adrian Peterson was also accused of abusing his son. A Penn State football coach was found guilty of molesting some of his players. A quarterback at Florida State was accused of molesting a peer. Many big figures have been accused of misconduct, and everyone sees these horrible things. In conclusion, because celebrities act inappropriately, do drugs, and break laws, they do not make good role models. As children grow up with these celebrities, they feel as its okay to act in the same matter. Amanda Bynes was not seen as a threat when growing up, but now society has an uncontrollable young adult on their hands. Even though some celebrities are not good role models...

Amanda Bynes: The Amanda Show

...Amanda Bynes has made some unforgettable decisions that make us question what a spunky, colorful, and fun person she was. She has always been apart of our lives. Ever since back in the 90’s when she would “Bring Out the Dancing Lobsters”, she has always made us laugh with her skit-type comedy show, “The Amanda Show”. As she grew up she still managed to keep us laughing with her hit T.V. show, “What a Girl Wants” (“Saga”). She then landed movie roles in “Hairspray” and “Easy A” (“Bynes”). Amanda has been a part of our lives for a long time, and who we know as a sweet and innocent girl has completely changed. We all know that our childhood actors and actresses usually fall in a spring of events. Amanda has lost that squeaky clean image because...

English - a Short Essay.

...foolishness. And that's exactly what happened for Amanda Lindhout and her ex-boyfriend Nigel Brennan. Amanda Lindhout wasn't afraid at all when she went down to Somalia. She and Nigel Brennan even gave up their two armed guards. And that is exactly what is described as foolishness in the book review. Amanda Lindhout also admits her mistakes. She admits her foolishness. And that again is, by my opinion, the overall topic. To pay an extremely high price if you don't use the better half of your brain. What views are presented in the article? The views presented in the article are, from Amanda Lindhout's point of view, about forgiving. Even though that the captors locked her up in chains for several months and gangbanged her several times, she still strived to forgive them. She knows about her mistakes and foolishness, and believes that she was the one at fault. Nigel Brennan's point of view in this matter is first of all, that he had blamed Amanda Lindhout for their kidnap. Second is that he was treated much better than her. He was sitting on a madras bathing in sunlight with a drink. And probably at the same time Amanda Lindhout was gangbanged. So he had it quite nice compared to her. By this we can tell that Nigel Brennan hadn't felt true terror as Amanda Lindhout did, and must have had a quit different overall view. But even in spite of the fact that he wasn't tortured, he must in some way have felt sorrowful by Amanda Lindhout's painful screams. Do you agree/disagree...

...growing up, I always knew I wanted to be in a profession where I would help people. Whether it was to be a veterinarian, nurse, a doctor, dentist, surgeon, pediatrician, I wanted to do it all. Blood, guts, and gore were not a factor in making this decision. The one factor that did however was a surgeon on a reality television show. This show deals with so many different cases of people who want to improve their looks or fix a birth defect. Before I knew it, Dr. 90210 was leading me to the next big step in my life. Well-known surgeons from Los Angeles, Seattle, and New York were a part of this show. They each had their own unique talents and different “style” of performing surgeries. The person who I spend the most time watching is Robert Rey. He is performing the type of surgeries that interest me the most which is strictly “plastics”. The other surgeons are also dermatologists and OBGYN’s instead of focusing on just one particular art of surgery. Plastic surgery was all of a sudden my point of interest. This type of surgery is not just for all of those people who live in Beverly Hills who have the money to “tune up their parts”, but a surgery that can help many different people who have different problems that they are uncomfortable with. I want someone to feel like they can turn to me if they are...

Hamlet

Mission Trip

...Mission San Luis Rey was built on June 13, 1798. It was nicknamed “King of the Missions”. San Luis Rey is the18th mission in the mission chain. It was named after St. Luis the 9th, King of France. San Luis Rey is located in Oceanside, California. It was founded by Father Lasuen. San Luis Rey’s church was very interesting to learn about. The church is the tallest building in the mission. The windows are high to prevent thieves and to make the walls stronger. The church was very important to them because it was a place to pray and to have mass. Mission San Luis Rey has a magnificent bell tower. They bells would be rung to signal morning and night and to announce daily events such as lunch and dinner. They would also be rung for celebrations, warnings, and in times of mourning. There were once was 8 bells in the bell tower but now there are only 4 bells. Kitchens at this mission were not convenient like the ones we have in our homes today. They used the kitchen for cooking and preparing the meals. The indoor kitchen was a smoky room with holes in the top of the roof so the smoke could go out. The Indians at the mission ate atole. They served tortillas at almost every meal. I wish I could have seen the worker’s quarters. Fortunately, I learned that unmarried women and girls 8 years or older lived in a dormitory which was called a momjero. Men lived in similar buildings. The men slept on mats on the floor or on benches. Married workers lived with their...

...Tiffany Talks with an Editor for ‘Vogue Girl’ During Her Photoshoot Posted by bhost909 on March 22nd, 2012 Views: 610   Tiffany’s appearance in the April issue of “Vogue Girl” also featured a staff account of the photoshoot by editor Jung Soohyun. #1 West Hollywood “So, should we shoot in my neighborhood?” She spoke lightly as if she was saying to a friend she met on the street by coincidence, “Come over sometime.” Tiffany, who appeared on “Late Show with David Letterman” and performed in concerts in France and Thailand, said that she was going to Los Angeles to meet her family members and friends. Right before she left for the 2012 Burberry Prorsum F/W Fashion Show, she received a short break of five days. Technically, she received four days and a morning, but she spent fifteen hours of that time with Vogue Girl. Moreover, she did not request for a room in the Chateau Marmont (translator’s note: a luxury hotel in Hollywood), nor was she accompanied by a manager. She just wanted to stay in her home with her family. She got on the plane two days before the other staff, and we decided to stay at a place near her house. Ah, I almost forgot: what was worse was that she spent the first day of her break dying her hair for this shoot. She changed the jet-black hair from her musical, Fame, to a bright orange-brown color. To be honest, when we heard from Tiffany’s hairstylist that she was going to dye her hair, I thought that was the most unrealistic aspect of this shoot. I actually...
