By the opening of Ulysses, Stephen’s romantic sensibilities seem to be severely weakened. (Michael Schandorf) the whole boo is narrowed down to events in Dublin on June 16, 1904. Ordinary people carrying an everyday tasks consume its subjects. Ulysses is a book about Stephen’s search for a symbolic father and blooms search for a son. Stephen a poor school teacher, lives in a 1 room tower and ears nothing all day. He thinks he may have killed his mother by refusing to kneel and pray at her deathbed when she asked. He associates the phase” remorse at conscience”, with his guilt over his mother’s death. Bloom shows a number of acts, not having had intercourse with his wife for over ten years. Bloom shows acts of masturbation. On the other hand bloom showers acts of admirable qualities. He is a sensitive and considerate man, a man of wide-ranging interests and inveterate curiosity, of sympathy and charity…a good man. (Weldon Thorton) bloom too has guilty feelings about his father because he no longer observes certain traditions his father observed. It is bloom’s extraordinary capacity for sympathy and compassion that allows him heroism in the course of the novel. Bloom’s ability to empathize with a wide variety of beings, cats ,birds, dead men, vicious men, blind men, old ladies, the poor ,and so on. Bloom’s compassion dictates the course of his day, like when he stops at the river to feed the gulls or at the hospital to check on Mrs. Purfoy.

Notices a note from blazes Boylan. He reads a letter from their daughter Milly then persists on his day wondering through the city on business, pleasure, attendance at his friend’s funeral and purposefully not being hoe when his wife’s lover calls. Before attending the funeral he decides to make the most of the little time he has left and get Molly’s lotion, he buys a bar of soap for himself and walks towards the baths. He then heads out for the funeral.
After lunch, feeling relaxed and satisfied from the cheese sandwich and glass of burgundy, he takes a walk. In a moment of unsolicited generosity, leopard bloom helps a young blind man cross the street, initiating aa flood of self-reflexive thoughts about perception that highlight the interaction as an intimate one.(Siane E White) The blind man brings about conscious curiosity in bloom about perception and the senses, along with feelings of pity and Sympathy. He views the stains on the blind man’s shirt as slobbers. Bloom uses his vison to describe the view ad dangers. The blind man doesn’t answer the first two times making it seems that it is difficult to distinguish in sound the sincerity without sight. Afterwards bloom ducks into the national museum to avoid bumping into his wife’s prospective lover.
We find bloom out at the beach looking at a young woman’s underwear. This is until her group runs off, she stays behind enjoying the watered gaze and feeding it more and more view of leg until the fireworks above mimic Blooms ejaculation. Bloom continues his advance of home and Balazes Boyloan by paying visit to Mrs. Purfoy who he knows is expecting difficult child birth.
When he runs into a group of young men, including Stephen who is avoiding his going home as well, bloom once again finds himself to be an outsider looking in on his being unwelcomed. In the late hour, high alcohol level, hallucinations, Bloom’s and Stephen’s mistress, and keeps watch over Stephen who has a traumatic hallucinatory visit from his diseased mother. Blooms pays for the damages of the smashed chandelier and follows Stephen into the street. Stephen is pouched by a British soldier, Bloom protects him so he doesn’t get taken into custody by the police. These turns of events lead to blooms vision of his own son who had died eleven years ago at the age of eleven days.
Bloom takes Stephen to a nearby shelter in attempts to sober him up and bring him home for a good night’s sleep. Bloom remembers he had forgotten his key, so he climbs over the railing and into the house to bring Stephen in for a cup of coco and the conversation. Stephen refused the offer to stay the night and the night ended with an urination together under the stars. Bloom finds his way to the bathroom. Here he imagines the turn of events as he tosses molly her stocking, garter belt, drawers camisole, underskirt. Perhaps she has simply not bothered to get rid of the evidence knowing that bloom know anyway (Tony Thwaites) he climbs into bed laying opposite to his wife. By the end of the novel, bloom is able to perceive and admit his own share of responsibility for Molly’s adultery, and it is clear that the preservation of their marriage is his central concern. Through Molly’s world we explore un-seen sides from other male perspectives. Beginning with her surprise over blooms breakfast order and some random remembrances of life with her husband, she proceeds in seeing the context of her past and future life. Molly’s review of her marriage and family, childhood, appraisals of men and woman, romantic curiosity about younger men the power of love. The reality of loss/and her ultimate acceptance of the man she married, the man he was when she married him. She utters her find “yes”.
