...R H D EN120 English Composition I Assignment 2_02 Description Paragraph January 9, 2015 Topic: An important place in my life As a German immigrant in the USA, I can clearly say, that my hometown of Ulm, Germany, is one of the most important places in my life. Situated on the river Danube, early settlements of the city were reported around 5000 BC. After being declared an imperial city in the 12th century, Ulm’s economy blossomed and the foundation for a bright future was laid. The city welcomed various medieval kings and emperors, accommodating their travels. Up to the 16th century, Ulm became a city of traders and craftsmen with important trading routes spreading all the way to Italy. The discovery of the New World, the Thirty Years’ War in Europe and the invasion by the French and Bavarian negatively impacted the city up to the 19th century; Ulm’s fortifications were destroyed and the city lost its status of being an imperial city. With the help of industrialization in the second half of the 19th century, Ulm regained its strength and transformed into an important industrial center, expanding beyond its medieval walls. During World War II, a large area of Ulm’s medieval city center was destroyed; consequently, the bombings caused thousands of people to become homeless. After the war, in the 1950s and 60s, Ulm was rebuild, and important landmarks restored. The city is known for the world’s highest church steeple, the fishermen quarter with its cobblestone alleys, a remaining...

...Denisse Esparza Professor Craven Marketing 350 November 21, 2013 The Impact of Marketing in My Life What is marketing? Marketing is an activity. Marketing activities and strategies result in making products available that satisfy customers while making profits for the companies that offer those products to the public. Marketing has impacted my life dramatically because I use a lot the four P’s at work and my personal life. The four “P’s” are Product, Price, Place and Promotion. Society can exist without Marketing, but Marketing cannot exist without Society. Marketing is the management process of anticipating, identifying and satisfying customers’ requirements. There are various marketing tools like advertising, branding, direct marketing, sales promotion, publicity and public relations. These tools help companies make more and larger profit, and satisfy all customers. In this paper I am going to discuss how the Four “P’s” have impacted and changed my life. Product in the marketing mix refers to the item actually being sold. The product must deliver a minimum level of performance; otherwise even the best work on the other elements of the marketing mix won't do any good. I learned that a product should be in good conditions and it should be the best product offered for customers to buy it. For the business, the product should have a variety of colors, sizes, styles, etc. If the business wants to sell a large quantity and make a moderate profit, they should add or change...

...2008) is a story which provides many opportunities for the reader to make some type of personal connection by providing a story of an untraditional family setting. Simpson’s story provided a few important lessons that people need to keep in mind as they go about their daily lives. The short story sheds light to what should be important in a person’s life; what should be a priority, the lessons taught to children through hard work and love. After reading Simpson’s “Coins” I was face to face with the lessons that the story presented, forcing me to take a look at my priorities and family, thus allowing me a moment to reflect on what I truly cherish in my life, which is the love for my family and the importance of teaching my children the qualities of hard work in order to appreciate all that we have. The story of Lola, the housekeeper/nanny, was one that I was easy to make personal connections to and provided me with an analysis of how easy it is truly is to lose sight on the priorities in my life. Much like the parents in the story, I have, at times, allowed the outside world negatively impact my place in my child’s life. I have too often placed work as a priority over my family, keeping long and unusual hours, and depending on others to pick up my slack and duties with my child. My particular...

...Sound Tracks to My Life I wonder if there is such a thing as a good addiction, because I’m sure as hell addicted to music. When I think of music I think of an escape. I can be doing anything at any given moment and put in a pair of head phones and be completely in another world. Without music, my day is completely empty and boring. I wake up to music; I go to school listening to music and even eat to it. Music is a source of joy, stress, tears, camaraderie and fulfillment for me. What would life be without music? The world would be a very quiet place. Music for me is a reminder of how things once were an indication of how things are, and a view of where society is headed. Music is a direct reflection of the picture of society. Music can be a way to deliver messages, a poetic medium, a fine art, or nothing more than a source of entertainment. No matter what it is used for, music is the perfect art and my life would be that much less complete without it. Two songs come to mind when I think about all these sources of completeness for myself. First is “Proud to Be an American” by Lee Greenwood and “You and Me” by Soldier of Jah Army. I often think of the words of Lee Greenwood’s song “God Bless the USA” in which he states:”And I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free....” I wholeheartedly agree. My heart swells with gratitude to God and this wonderful land where, regardless of whom I am or what my goals are, I have that priceless gift of freedom. Freedom to...

...Important Things I have many important things in my life that I could not live without. From people I know, to places I visit, even the music I listen to all means something to me. The very first thing that comes to mind when someone asks me what is important to me are the people that are important to me. My sister Krista is by far the best sister I could ever ask for; if I need anything she would be the first person that I go to for help. For example one time I got kicked out of a party at 3am and Krista came to pick me up. She is always there to talk about my problems and help me out. Obviously like any other normal siblings we do argue a lot, but it never lasts for very long. Krista is by far my favourite family member. Another person in my life that is extremely important to me is my nephew Cole. He is one year old and is the cutest baby I have ever seen. Cole can cheer me up even when I am in the worst mood. I remember one time I was having the worst day and nothing seemed to go right. I was being rude to everybody and nothing could make me smile. When I got home from school my sister showed up for a surprise visit with Cole and I instantly got the biggest smile on my face. It is impossible for me to be in a bad mood around him. Another thing that comes to mind when I'm asked what is important to me are the material things. I could never live without my iPod; I have a different playlist of music for every type of mood I am in. Music makes me happy when I'm upset...

The people that have had influence on me are the most important people, my family. But before I begin talking about my family, I want to show to you the place that me and my family spend most of the time together which also means something important to me and my family. This place is called the family room. This room is small but beautiful. It is painted in white and has three windows decorated with beautiful curtains. By the windows you can see a nice view of some beautiful trees and a nice park across street. On the walls there are family photos like the ones that show where my brother and I were born. The other one is my graduation photo. Some family member photos like my grandparents, and some paintings made by my brother. So this is our room, which is very important to us and has a lot of special things, but the most special part of this room is when it brings my family together. I could begin the story of my life with a picture of my parents. They are important because they helped in my development. Also, my parents gave me the things that I needed to grow up in the moment that I needed and they still gave me everything that I needed to become someone important in the future. Beside these things is the education that I have gained all in my life. My basic needs like food, clothes, medicine, a place to live, and the most important thing...

...Reflection Essay My Religion and Malloy’s Eight Elements I was born and raised in the Lutheran Church with a strong belief system. As of recent years, I have opted to not attend church services, but still feel very strong about the beliefs that I was raised with. There are a few beliefs that I was raised with that I don’t buy into, such as the belief that god created earth and all things on it in 6 days. There is far too much scientific evidence to suggest that evolution has and is constantly taking place. Despite this, I do thing that our belief system plays a very important part in my life. For me, community does not play as big of a role in my belief system. I tend to believe that one does not necessarily need to attend church to worship god. I do that every day in my daily life. I am so thankful for my friends, family, life and everything in it. This has been my dad’s feeling for a very long time and I tend to follow him. We do have several central myths that we believe in. All of these myths are told in the bible and are stories that we learn from the time we are young children. I remember going to bible camp when I was in elementary and junior high school. We would go for a week and always on the last night of camp, the counselors put on what was called the Passion Play. The play was the story of the last few days of Jesus’ life, his crucifixion, and how he rose from the dead. I have such vivid memories of this and it was always my favorite part of...

...Medicine Wheel: A Guide to Achieving Personal Goals in Life One of the important subjects that is of great interest in Aboriginal Studies is the Medicine Wheel; how it is used as a guide for personal decision making and actions through life, particularly to achieving our personal goals. What the Medicine Wheel is all about and how it helps guide us to a more fulfilling life is a question most of us wonder. The Medicine Wheel is a crucial element of First Nation’s culture. It is a powerful symbol of the aboriginal people’s spirituality. It is the essence of their way of life, a key to understanding the universe, and a guide in which an individual can reach wholeness. It provides framework for growth and direction in one’s life (Roberts, Harper, Bull, & Heideman-Provost, 1998). “The Medicine Wheel symbolizes the interconnection of all life, the various cycles of nature, and how life represents a circular journey” (Traditional Aboriginal Medicine, 2009). The Medicine Wheel as a visual symbol is an effective tool for personal development (Native American Medicine Wheel, 2011). Based on my learning from the class discussions and presentations, I found this project very interesting and inspiring. I found it to be an important guide towards attaining success. In this paper is my vision of what a medicine wheel would be like and how I connect the medicine wheel ideas to my outlook, and to realizing my goals in life. Medicine...

DENISE MASSEY IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR SPIRITUAL FORMATION: THSP 501 MASTER OF DIVINITY BY JOHN WATSON ATLANTA, GA DECEMBER 2013 At the beginning of the course we were told that we had to put together a paper that would be entitled “The Rule of Life”. At the very outset of hearing this, my mind began to wonder what in the world that is about. I didn’t really understand the concept or began to understand the concept until I had the opportunity to experience the retreat at camp Pinnacle. This opportunity to go hiking was an experience that truly changed my life and how I spend time with Christ. It also helped me understand the importance of creating and implementing rules in my life that would be beneficial to my ultimate growth while at seminary. Now I understand that the “Rule of Life” assignment is more than just an assignment but actually a diagram of my plan of action with purpose and meaning behind it. Now as I begin to think about the methodologies and routines that I want to place into my life in order to enhance my spiritual process here at seminary carries a little more meaning than just something to put on paper. I believe that these rules will not only help advance me but also my family. As a married man with two children, it is important that everything I do always reflect the survival of my wife and two kids. As I continue to learn how to be an awesome...

...Elky Brady Dr. Price ENC 1101 4 October 2011 My Children Changed My Life As anyone can imagine, having a child can really change a person’s life. Depending on the person, the change can be viewed as negative or positive. A lot of times this life-changing event can be an unexpected one and I personally know about the fears that come along this type of surprise. When comparing and contrasting my life before motherhood and now, the differences are extreme. Some of the biggest areas of impact to my life as a new mom were my financial situation, social life, and myself as a person in general. Raising children is very expensive. Before my boys, I was able to spend a lot on myself and after, any type of selfish spending was not an option or priority. Although I was thinking I would never be able to get by, there were a lot of easy ways that I discovered as a new mom that helped with the bigger financial responsibility. What makes it easier are the websites online that moms of all ages, experience levels, and varieties flock to in order to share their success stories, tips, and not-so-lucky situations that other moms can learn from. On the popular site SingleMom.com, one blogger posted about the several things that can be done around the house to save a few extra bucks. Suggestions such as replacing expensive aromatic candles with vinegar boiling on the stove do not seem like a big deal, and actually a little ridiculous but according...

My parents played an important role in this trip since they have been very supportive and helpful throughout my life.
