We are only human, and humans can be a cruel species. Sometimes we participate for the sake of belonging and history shows that humans have done worse to save themselves from the torture of others. When we are children we don’t understand the reason we do what do, it is a basic instinct to survive and our brains are not developed enough to understand this. With the story of “An Apology” our author Bjorn Skoquist explains very well that instinct to fit in and survive and what this caused him to do to an innocent young girl named Tiffany Stephenson. Our dear Tiffany is the unfortunate victim of childhood bullying and a classic example of the majority verses the few. The questions is, are Skoquist’s actions forgivable? As someone who can relate from both sides, I will toss my hat towards forgiveness.…show more content… So the poor kid’s brain is stressed and has put him in survival mode without him knowing. So when the rest of the boys come to him an tell him this is what we do to that girl over there, are you with us or against us, he is going to naturally go with them for the benefit of inclusion and survival. So he joins the majority factor and now no one cares that there is a new kid. It’s back to Tiffany and how she smells and is a big girl that no one is allowed to like. He spends the rest of the story sharing accounts of teasing her and how it grew from there and as he calls it in paragraph thirteen, something inhumane. But now our question remains, does he deserve forgiveness. My answer to him would be
