I agree with John Locke and his assertion that people are a product of their environment. Based on this philosophy, educators can provide a positive impact on the development of students and serve as role models instilling values that are absent from many of their lives. At the core of this evolution would be the promotion of values centered around integrity and how this trait impacts future success. Without honesty, students will never be capable of reaching their full potential because they will never have the trust of their peers or the confidence in themselves to stand up for righteousness. Individuals must have faith that their objectives are worthy and honorable, with the best intentions for all involved. Individuals who share this trait, …show more content…
Students who develop an appreciation for others and their struggles, will open new doors of possibilities that will allow them to work with people across a broad spectrum, imperative in our global economy. The goal is to encourage understanding, so people can live cooperatively without the stigmas associated with fear and isolation. Finally, students need to learn accountability and become responsible for their actions. This character trait works hand in hand with integrity, as individuals learn to take ownership for both positive and negative consequences. People will become much more trustworthy when they accept responsibility for things that are unsuccessful. Everyone will make decisions they later regret, but your ability to accept ownership for those failures and admit your mistakes reverberates positively with others as they appreciate sincerity in the process. Accountability is essential in keeping people focused on the task at hand and creating a perseverance as individuals strive to succeed. It is also fundamental in promoting team goals, because individuals who take their role in an organization seriously, experience extreme disappointment if they fail to uphold their part of the
