On December 17, 1849, Mott delivered her speech, “Discourse on Women”, in Philadelphia, which was about the restrictions that had been put on women in the United States. A year later, in 1850, her pamphlet was published. Her writings discussed the “educational, economic, and political restrictions on women in Western Europe and America,” (appstate.edu). Later that same year, Mott attended the first national women’s rights convention in Worchester, Massachusetts.
