When assessing my student at Crestmont Elementary on Novemeber 19th, 2014 I was paired with a fourth grader named Latia. When Latia entered the cafeteria to sit with me to begin our assessment she seemed very enthusiastic. Latia did not seem overwhelmed and very prepared to begin the assessment. At this point I began the three assessments with Latia. The passages were the first assessment given to the student. I gave Latia a copy of Snakes Alive while I held one to follow as she read aloud. The passage consisted of five paragraphs with a word count of 226. Throughout the entire passage Latia made a total of seven no errors and one error according to the running record coding sheet. Latia began reading Snakes Alive and beginning with the …show more content…
This mispronunciation is considered no error. Latia read the second paragraph and fourth beautifully making zero mistakes. The third and fifth paragraph was when Latia began; inserting, omitting, and problem-solving words much more compared the other paragraphs. The mistakes with omitting words I still think were due to her reading so quickly. In the third paragraph she inserted a word in between two words that was not there, which is considered an error. She also missed the word Earhart, but was able to correct herself. This in the running record is problem-solving and still considered no error. The last paragraph as I mentioned above, she omitted two different words. The words omitted were weather and right in the first two sentences. The two mispronounced words were Nova Scotia that again is no error. Latia’s final mistake was when she read the last sentence of the passage and switched the words east and west. Latia read the two directions out of order that could be considered substitution on the running record because she tried correcting the words. This is still considered an error making her fifth and final error in the passage. Overall for Latia only making five actual errors, she did a wonderful job on this passage and the first. The final assessment given to the student was a spelling test. The spelling test consisted of twenty-five words ranging from moderately easy to difficult for the students grade level. Latia spelt correctly twenty words and scored a total of twenty out of twenty-five, only missing five. So not only do the gods mate and interact with humans, they also feel emotions like that of a human. In the case of Ishtar she is quite capable of feeling petty emotions like jealousy and rage, these feelings push her to potentially punish all of Uruk by releasing the bull of heaven. Ishtar paints a picture of the gods that portrays an unwieldy and cantankerous relationship between men and gods that most of the time ends up putting people in a not so desirable situation...

The paper also discusses the sources of animal metaphors, which are said to be located in three areas, namely: the Yorùbá naming culture, animal characteristic habits and behaviour, and the Yorùbá poetry. In discussing the metaphorical processes involved in the interpretation of animal-related metaphors, a two-dimensional approach is adopted: stylistic and cultural. In the first, the semantic features of animals involved in metaphors are decomposed into semantic markers that are of two types.
