The “war on drugs,” in the author’s opinion, consumes tax dollars for the purpose of imprisoning America’s poorest citizens; therefore besmirching ethnic groups .With per capita incarceration rates placing America at the top, the federal drug policies amount to genocide. Moving away from the extreme penal system of America, the Europeans’ decriminalization efforts resulted in manageable levels of drug use and related crime. In this article, Geers places confidence in controlling drug abuse by decriminalization, education, and rehabilitation. Protection for minors, regulation which mirrors alcohol laws, links taxation to supporting medical and spiritual education provides.
