Children these days are being raised in a sheltered environment that Walt Disney would disapprove of. Walt Disney said that children should experience life; however children are being sheltered with a “no best friend policy” in schools and an “everyone's a winner” mentality. Unlike adults today, Rex and Rose Walls followed Disney’s policy with their children--Lori, Jeannette, Brian, and Maureen--but in the worst way possible. Jeannette Walls’ The Glass Castle, is a memoir that describes the abuse that Walls and her siblings endured.
