In the short story “Prue” by Alice Munro tells us about a good-humored woman who is divorced named, Prue. She lives on and off with a wealthy neurologist who wants to marry her. In this story Munro created great imagery of the main character and the use of a third person narrator, allowing the reader to understand and analyze the various interpretations of facing life as a woman. The main character, Prue, is describe as a woman who strives to become her true self even though she had experienced many situations throughout her life.

Prue is introduced as a woman who enjoy parties and view sex “wholesome, slightly silly indulgence, like dancing and nice dinners.” Munro doesn’t incorporate any of Prue’s emotions or feelings in the story, but with Prue’s attitude toward life through her actions. Prue’s small interaction to the outside world shows that she doesn’t want to jeopardize her independence. “Like a flighty daughter, neglects to answer their letters.” Even with responding to her children’s letter she thinks her independence might be at risk.

When the neurologist ask to marry her, she took it as a joke but the truth is that she is subconsciously have feelings for him. Her feelings are being held within as she feels unstable being in a relationship with him during the time he was still married. With a good sense of humor, Prue deals life challenges through a positive approach.

“Taking one is not a real theft. It could be a reminder, an intimate prank, a piece of nonsense. [...] When she gets home she puts the cufflink in an old tobacco tin.” The tobacco tin symbolizes Prue’s enclosed emotion to the outside world. She is dealing life as a woman who is self-sufficient conceals all her emotions in darkness like the items within the tobacco tin. But all the hidden items in the tobacco tin represents her past experiences or people she had encounter through life

The Price of Unethical Behavior

...The Price of Unethical Behavior MGT7019-8 Ethics in Business Laura M Brooks July 21, 2013 We as a society have assumed companies in whole have been ethical in doing business. It wasn’t until Enron in 2001 that the public has become more aware of business activities. Shortly after Enron, Tyco International caught the public eye. One must first have an understanding of what it is to be ethical and moral. Once there is an understanding of these two terms, one may gain an appreciation of the occurrences in the corporate business world in the early 2000’s. One occurrence in particular is Tyco International. Tyco International will be evaluated. This evaluation will include the historical aspects, the corporate spending and the loans obtained, the outcome of events, and the punishments imposed. Further, the question of is it difficult to see ethical breaches that we may commit will be discussed. Ethics and morality are interconnected and thus integrity is also linked. According to Stephens, one cannot be defined without the other being in the definition. Stephens states many definitions of ethics have morals within the definition. One may differ with Stephens. While both ethics and morals relate to right and wrong, ethics is set rules of conduct that spells out how things are based on the rules for a specified group or action and morals are based on a person’s habits or principles and ideals as to their conduct. Integrity is a rigid adherence to a code of behavior...

In her masterpiece To the Lighthouse she uses large number of images to convey her feminist ideas. This Research paper focuses on To the Lighthouse with feminist perspective. How ‘To the Lighthouse’ projects its challenges or realization of productive and creative possibilities of female characters like Mrs. Ramsay, Lily Briscoe, Nancy Ramsay, and other characters who move around these central characters and how these characters are to be studied with the feministic point of view and built as a portrait of real woman in the Victorian England as well as its relevance in the present scenario. Our efforts are to bring out the voice of female characters’ echo in the novel considering these various roles in the novel. INTRODUCTION  In the Post-Modern period, the feministic perspective has been much travelled especially in the writing of female authors or poets. The word ‘servitude’ (Fanon) in the feministic reading has been much taken in to consideration. To the Lighthouse, much discussed, debated and criticized like its length of writing in the panorama of Feminism. The writers’ efforts to portray the real woman as far as milieu and moment are concerned, is...
