Analyzing Messages The way people communicate has changed dramatically throughout the past years. Earlier methods of communication began with verbal and written forms that had to be delivered (a telegram); there were even messages carved on stone pillars. However, these methods have changed so much over time; one of the earliest forms of communication was the telephone, in which one person could call up another to transfer messages. After the telephone technology just took a total change. Computers were first commercially sold in 1951 which broadened the means of communications drastically. Computers allowed people to send emails and facsimile to one another that arrived in a matter of minutes. After computers, the inventions of pagers and cell phones came about. Since cell phones are wireless, it allows one to communicate at any time without having to wait to reach a land line. Cell phones also offer the option of text messaging, where whereas messages are directly sent without having to speak. Many people today use several forms of these techniques on a daily basis. Velinda is currently a student pursuing a career in psychology and has started her job search. Since she is close to completing school and receiving her degree, she has been online a lot, searching for jobs and sending out resumes. Earlier this year Velinda completed a profile and sent a resume to Youth Villages, which gave information about her, this makes her the sender of the message. They both contained information that told why she was interested in pursuing a career with them, also giving a list of my qualifications and skills she has that are necessary for the job. The resume was in turn reviewed by human resource and onto the hiring manager or whichever
