Towards the end of the film, we watch Suyuan realize she must leave her babies to give them their best chance. A song that would be a great addition to the soundtrack is “Rockabye” sung by Clean Bandit. This song talks about a single mother doing what is necessary to give her son a happy and privileged life. Just as the single mother in the song, the now widowed Suyuan wants the best life for her twin girls and, as a result, leaves them on the side of the road during their long journey. During Suyuan’s first part of the journey to Chungking the first verse of the song would play: “ She works the night, by the water/ She’s gonna stress so far away from her father’s daughter/ She just wants a life for her baby/ All on her own, no one will come/
