Animals are routinely severed, poisoned, starved and confined for weeks at times all for the well-being of humans. Sadly, the number of advances found through animal testing is remarkably faint compared to the number of living organisms being persecuted in the process. Animal testing is used to assess the safety and effectiveness of everything from cosmetics to medication, as well as understanding how the human body works. Animal testing is brutally inhumane, and unreliable especially considering that there are alternative methods available that can substitute for this process.

This vicious method inflicts stress and physical pain that can very well be avoided. With being a fact that animal testing has led to little prosperity for humankind; the wicked process should be put to an end. During the experimentation animals endure chemicals being dripped into their eyes, injected into their bodies, forced up their nostrils or forced down their throats. They are addicted to drugs, forced to inhale/ingest toxic substances, subjected to maternal deprivation, deafened, blinded, burned, stapled, and infected with disease viruses.(http://voiceforallanimals.utep.edu/experimentation.htm). The thought that living organisms are treated in such ways is mind boggling. Disastrously, many defenders of this process are unknowing of the excessive amount of excruciating pain that animals have to endure. Supporters also attempt to claim that animal testing, for the most part, is unharming to animals. The public should be well aware that this statement is untrue. Behind the closed doors of laboratories; dissenters …show more content…
In fact, 94% of drugs that pass animal testing fail in human clinical trials(procon.org).Not only are these tests undependable, but animals are mistreated and killed while results are contributing to nothing. Testing on animals leads to unreliable and unscientific findings that harm or kill humans 61% of the time after being deemed safe (Americans for Medical Progress Educational Alliance, 2003). With 16 billion dollars being spent annually; animal testing should have now led us to the great reliable advances. Sadly, it has and will never. Promoters of animal testing would insist that animals are appropriate research subjects because they are so similar to human beings. In 2011 the Institute of Medicine concluded that chimpanzees are no longer needed in testing. With chimps being the closest relative to humans; they should provide scientist with the most reliable research. The NIH ended up retiring 90% of chimpanzees from testing uses, but continue to use millions of species in which are not closely related to a human being.(livescience.com).The differences between animals and people are so large that they are poor models for human being research. The claim that animals are susceptible to many of the same conditions as humans was proven false. . Animal lives are going to waste all because of flaws in the process.

Animal Testing Is Inhumane

...I disagree with conducting experiments on animals, it’s inhumane and cruel against animals. It’s also unreasonable and invalid considering that animals aren’t even the same species as humans. There is also over means of testing that doesn’t harm animals or people. Also I think that these alternative means of testing products is useful and should be used instead of testing products on animals. Conducting experiments on animals is cruelty against animals, considering that products that are tested on animals are commonly treated unfairly and are force fed, forced inhalation, food and water deprivation, and undergo prolonged periods of physical restraint. Infliction of other wounds to study the healing process also commonly occurs. Also...

They may not be physically capable of talking with you, but they do have feelings and they can suffer. Throughout the history of the world, animals have been used for biomedical research. They were bred in captivity from the beginning never even having the chance to lead a normal life. In 1975 Peter Singer published “Animal Liberation” and changed the view of how everybody looked and thought about animals because it revealed what happens in animal product testing procedures. The amount of testing on animals in the US should be decreased, even if it has...

...As soon as the words “animal testing” spirals out in a conversation, the atmosphere immediately becomes uncomfortable, but people never realize why. This is probably because when people think of animal testing, they think of cages, injections of poisonous liquids, and other cruel treatments for the selfish benefits of the human race. Many people look upon animals as companions while others view them as a way of advancing experimental research. Animals are meant to be respected and admired, but the truth is that many people either are not aware or don’t acknowledge that animals are essential to human existence and have been playing a vital role in improving the quality of our lives. Their role in finding cures for diseases, treatments for illness,...

...Getting experimented on, animals go through torture just for our pleasure. Animal testing is when animals go through deep pain and suffering, so that scientists can test out cosmetics and drugs for human use. A lot of innocent animals die and suffer from animal experimentation every year. The Humane Society International says 80% of the world legalized animal testing. People believe animal experimentation will make a big impact in the future. In France and Germany, they are working on the ability to regenerate brain areas with the help of mice. In the future, people hope we will be able to treat brain damage caused by strokes and bullet wounds, using animal testing. However, animal experiment results are not always accurate. Animal experimentation is inhumane and unethical, therefore it should be banned....

...Although animal testing has lead to many medical advancements it is still cruel and inhumane. There are alternatives to animal testing but, we still put over 100 million animals through torture and pain. “As soon as you walk into a laboratory, you can’t help but notice the rows and rows of barren cages holding sad animals living under the glare of fluorescent bulbs. Animals who have had their heads crushed grip their faces and convulse as blood pours out of their noses.” - Aysha Akhtar. “Human beings have no right to impose their will on animals. They are not ours to experiment on.” said Alison Currie when she visited an animal lab. Why Animal Testing Is Cruel And Inhumane?

...Animal testing is a world wide argument. Many people believe it is cruel and inhumane, others agree it is the best way to get fast results. This is a very controversial topic, especially in psychology. Psychologist do research to learn about behavior and how knowledge of behavior can be used to advance the welfare of people and animals. Overall, animal testing is right because it not only saves human lives, but animals as well, contributes to many life saving cures and lastly animals have shorter life cycles so it speeds up the result process. People think animal testing only benefits us, but it is widely used to save animals all around the world. Because when animals get sick we don't always know or understand why. So what could be better to learn about a rat or chimpanzee than testing on one? Animal researchers have reestablished populations of endangered and threatened species. They did this by...

Animal Research

...Argumentative Essay.docx2/ 4 Baneen ZiaUH Honors CollegeEvery year, millions of animals suffer tremendous pain as a result of scientific studies, commercial testing, and medical research in the United States. Animal testing, the method of using non—humans in means of research, requires the captivity of animal in order to experiment for human breakthroughs and advancements. Although a few of the countless experiments performed contribute to the act of improving lives through the discovery of cures, researchers risk the lives of many and harm these animals in the process. The natural lives of animals become disrupted and these animals forcefully enter studies in which they will most likely undergo pain or, unfortunately, death. The unjust and inhumane treatment of animals in experimentations to innovate and benefit the human race is unnecessary, misleading, and unethical, and therefore, should not be performed for biomedical research. Animal testing estimates 26 million animals used for biomedical research each year in America. By testing the toxicity of drugs or the effectiveness of medications, scientists use animals to understand the human body without actually causing harm to it. The three methods of testing include toxicology research, pure research, and applied research for an under the intentionof discovering effects of such medications and bearing direct outcomes. Scientific researchers use animals to understand the human anatomy without causing impairment to the human race...

Animal Research

...Animal testing has been a hot topic of discussion in society for many years. The debate is whether or not animal testing should be allowed. Some people believe that animal testing is wrong and that it causes undue harm to animals. Throughout the last 150 years, the practice of using animals for research has been under intense scrutiny between animal activists and researchers. Scientists insist that the experimental research they do is essential for producing effective drugs, and the animal rights activists believe that testing animals for advancements in medicine is not necessary. I believe that research using animals should continue as long as there is a reason for it to continue. Thanks to animal based research, to date millions of human lives have been saved. Animal testing is the only way to find out if vaccinations work for different diseases. We cannot just ask people off the streets to volunteer, as that would be morally and ethically wrong. At this time, scientific researchers have no alternatives for testing new drugs, as scientific computer modules can only do so much for testing. Also, the government has strong laws in place to ensure the health and welfare of test animals. As long as there is disease and sickness in the world, scientists will always be looking for the next cure and treatment options, so we will always need to have animal research. As long as the animals are treated humanely, I believe that it would be inhumane to the human race to stop animal research...

Animal Testing

...Animal Testing Over 70 million animals die each year from animal testing. Although many animals have died during the course of animal testing, many things have been improved or have benefitted from animal testing including medicine. Animal testing also affects everyone in more than one way. Animals are not just used for testing in the United States; they are used all over the world for animal testing. Animal testing is a social justice issue that has improved medical research, but has resulted in the killing of many animals. Animal testing is the testing of cosmetic products, cleaning products, agricultural research, dog and cat food trials, weapons tests, aerospace studies, and car crash simulations (PETA). One might feel animal testing is cruel, but almost the whole world has benefitted from vaccines. It has also led to the treatment of some diseases. Animal testing can sometimes end with mixed outcomes. Many people have died because drugs or treatments that have successfully passed tests conducted on animals have failed on humans. Many alternatives to animal testing exist. Some alternatives include using computer models and using tissue cultures in research. During some of the experiments, some animals are given medicine so the animals do not feel pain or distress. However, thousands are not. The experiments preformed can be painful, damaging, and deadly to the animals used (B 5-9). Animal testing is an issue all around the world. In Great Britain, more than 2.5 million...

Why Is Animal Testing Ineffective

...It has been proven that animal testing is widely ineffective. According to PETA, “It’s [animal testing] archaic. Forwardthinking scientists have developed humane, modern, and effective nonanimal research methods, including humanbased microdosing, in vitro technology, humanpatient simulators, and sophisticated computer modeling, that are cheaper, faster, and more accurate than animal tests. Although human microdosing, in vitro technology, and humanpatient simulations work effectively, computer modeling is the best. Human microdosing is a way to test on a human subject. “Volunteers are given an extremely small onetime drug dose, and sophisticated imaging techniques are used to monitor how the drug behaves in the body. Stop Animal Testing in the Medical Field

...Kleemeier Erica Jones ENG 105 11-22-15 Stop Animal Testing in the Medical Field Lions and tiger and bears oh my. More like, monkeys and dogs and mice oh no. How does being poked, probed, opened up, burned, shocked and tortured all for the advancement of the medical field sound? Now think about all those things being done, knowing there is another way, which causes no agony, distress or discomfort to any living creature. Animal testing is a process or “tradition” that has been around for many, many years. The problem with this tradition in particular is that although it causes much pain to innocent animals and can be avoided, many choose to still use this practice today. Animals have been used as tools in biomedical research as early on as the days when Greek philosophers, such as Aristotle, were experimenting for their next scientific breakthrough. Ibn Zuhr (Avenzoar), an Arab physician in twelfth century Moorish Spain, introduced animal testing as an experimental method for testing surgical procedures before applying them to human patients (Hajar 2011). Many research associations claim that animal testing has been used in almost every single medical breakthrough within the last one hundred years. Laws have been passed in several countries to make this practice more “humane.” In reality, these laws are the bare minimum and do not truly make a difference for the animals that are being used for experimentations. Animal testing in the medical field needs to dissolve and ultimately...

Bioethics can first be defined as the study of the ethical and moral implications of medical research and practice. The major issue that has risen over the last century is whether or not animals should be tested in scientific or commercial purposes. Is it ethical to perform specific experimentations on various animals, if that animal is faced with life and death situations? Some individuals in our society say yes while others say no. Animal testing has remained to be a global issue for a very long time now and people wonder if this issue will ever come to an end. Animal testing has been researched and experimented with more...
