Ann Judson was born on December 22nd, 1789, to a family of seven. She was the youngest of five, with one brother and three sisters named John, Rebecca, Abigail, and Mary respectfully. Throughout her life, her family never constantly attended a church and did not have any imposed religion within their home. Ann has lived most of her life focused on outward and earthly gains until Christianity became ?big? in America. Around the time when Ann was sixteen, the idea of Christianity was growing in following, just not with the younger crowd. Despite the common ???, Ann felt a call toward the Lord. She had felt that if she followed her desire though, she would be made fun of and not accepted. According to her diaries that have been discovered, her dilemma continued on for quite some time until she made the decision and devoted her life to Christ in 1806. …show more content…
She then began to focus on her faith, growing and maturing in the Lord as she began to learn things about herself and her desires that she never knew before. At the age of 17, Ann began to teach others, her aim being bringing in new converts. She began to feel the want and the need to travel to undesirable places where the gospel had never reached before; it was put on her heart. Ann then decided that the calling was real, soon setting out to fulfill God’s plan. Around the same time, Ann’s future husband, Adoniram was lobbing with a group of his friends over the topic of establishing a missions agency. He had been converted to Christianity in ways similar to Ann, also desiring for overseas missions. Adoniram was adamant about reaching the lost in other areas, working until he and his group were able to volunteer and achieve the right to pursue their mission dreams. Ann had heard of his actions and was interested. Eventually, Ann and Adoniram met and it led to their eventual marriage on February 5th,

Guiding Young Minds

...Guiding Young Minds towards Biblical Truth Erik L. Norman Liberty University Abstract This paper contains my personal education philosophy; which is based on a foundation of Biblical principles, which I believe to be paramount in any philosophy. One must have a belief in God the creator of all if you truly want to know the meaning of life and your role in it. I believe that students should be taught first and foremost that they live in a fallen world and that sin separates us from god the father. And only through His Jesus Christ can we restore that that broken relationship. Once this is understood, the student can begin to develop the knowledge they need to become servants in God’s kingdom. I believe that my role as educator is to help foster that relationship through a mentor/disciple relationship. Below is an explanation on how I intend to achieve this goal. Guiding Young Minds towards Biblical Truth According to John Dewey (1997), “education is the process of facilitating learning. Knowledge, skills, values, beliefs, and habits of a group of people are transferred to other people, through storytelling, discussion, teaching, training, or research. As an educator it is our job to guide the young minds entrusted to us to a greater understanding of the subjects we teach through formal instruction. A teacher will facilitate this instruction on the basis of a teaching philosophy they have developed about teaching and learning. Being a teacher is a lifestyle, a love, a...

The Effects of Brand Relationship Norms on Consumer Attitudes and Behavior

...CONSUMER RESEARCH, Inc. ● Vol. 31 ● June 2004 All rights reserved. 0093-5301/2004/3101-0008$10.00 The Effects of Brand Relationship Norms on Consumer Attitudes and Behavior PANKAJ AGGARWAL* The key premise underlying this work is that when consumers form relationships with brands they use norms of interpersonal relationships as a guide in their brand assessments. Two relationship types are examined: exchange relationships in which benefits are given to others to get something back and communal relationships in which benefits are given to show concern for other’s needs. The conceptual model proposes that an adherence to or a violation of these relationship norms influences the appraisal of the specific marketing action and also the overall brand evaluations. Results of three experiments provide converging evidence in support of the theory. Branding and brand-based differentiation are powerful means for creating and sustaining competitive advantage. Prior research has examined differences in how consumers perceive and evaluate brands, for example, through investigating brand equity (Keller 1993; McQueen, Foley, and Deighton 1993), brand personality (Aaker 1997; Plummer 1985) and brand extensions (Aaker and Keller 1990; Nakamoto, MacInnis, and Jung 1993). More recently, researchers have noted that consumers differ not only in how they perceive brands but also in how they relate to brands (Fournier 1998; Muniz and O’Guinn 2001). This line of research has suggested...
