Anne was probably the most closest person to Henry during this time, so it would of been thought that Anne would have a massive influence on Henry decisions on things that would concern her, the divorce. Anne wouldn’t of been able to create any laws that would allow the divorce to go ahead but could certainly tempt Henry into thinking them which he could then enforce to be a new law. Of course other people would needed to be involved with being able to set the laws and to ensure whoever was in charged agreed with what was happening so it could've been a possibility that other people many of had an influence on Henry as well.

Boleyn would of been important to Henry wanting the divorce as she introduced him to Lutheran ideas of where Henry should be in charge of his own church, and so have power over his own kingdom and not the Pope. This would then give Henry the freedom to decide on what laws England should follow by, which could make it a lot easier for him to introduce and set a law about allowing people to divorce, rather than the King following laws from the Pope that isn't even in his country. Boleyn introduces Henry to these ideas by giving him a book titled ‘obedience of christian men’ written by W.Tyndale. Once Henry has read this book it gives him the idea of wanting to gain him own power in being able to run his own country, so leads him gaining power over law and giving his the authority divorce Catherine and marry Boleyn. So if it wasn't for Boleyn Henry may not of had the idea in the first place to challenge the authority of the Pope over the King. However Boleyn isn’t the only one to introduce these types of ideas to Henry for Thomas Cranmer also puts across to Henry the type of ideas Lutherans have, to try and influences Henry into following as they benefit him better then the situation he has at the moment. Also Cranmer plays quite a big role in Henry's divorce because he is the man that declares that Henry’s and Catherine's marriage was invalid, so even if Henry has these ideas, Cranmer was the one who followed through and actually got him the divorce. Before Cranmer does this of course he went to all the local universities to try and get the students there on Henry's side by changing the law maker, this was just to put across to the Pope that is isn't just Henry that thinks this, this was known as the university sweep. Finally Cranmer was used to marry Henry and Boleyn as he was the Archbishop of Canterbury and was one of the few members of the clergy that believed in Henry's views. Overall i don't think Boleyn was the more important person at this stage in getting Henry's divorce, because you could argue that Boleyn introduced Cranmer to Henry and without her he would never of been in power, but he most likely would of got someone else. So Cranmer id the more important person because he managed to get Henry the divorce even if Boleyn may of been the one to give him the ideas in the first place.

When Henry first met Boleyn he had no intention of falling in love with her and asking her to be his wife, for at first he justed wanted her as a mistress and then just leave it there. However she refused to become a mistress and demands that shes becomes his wife before they have sex. This then makes Henry want Anne even more for he feels he need to fight for her and isn't like normals girls that were willing to do anything just because he was the King. So then in order for Henry to be able to be with Boleyn he needed to divorce Catherine, this would then encourage Henry to push on for a divorce to Catherine because that would mean he’d be able to get who he wants. Nearer the process of getting the divorce Boleyn falls pregnant, which then causes the process of the divorce to speed up quicker because if that baby is born outside of their marriage, it would again be illegitimate and won’t be in line for the throne. This pregnancy could be argued that she planned for it to happen as she knew that it would make Henry want the divorce to come quicker in case it was a male. So for Boleyn refusing to become a mistress and getting pregnant may be why the divorce came around a lot quicker than it would of been. For the divorce to be possible, laws needed to be changed. This is why Thomas Cromwell is very important at this stage for he actually is the man that makes Henry the lawmaker of the church, giving him legal possibilities for Henry to marry Boleyn. This is the Act of Submission of the clergy where Cromwell no longer allows laws for England to be passed through to the Pope first and only to Heny, meaning Henry has the power to set whatever laws he wants. Thomas Cromwell's role in this seems a lot more important because even though Boleyn encourages the process to being a lot quicker due to her becoming pregnant, they wouldnt of actually been able to get married if Cromwell hasn't made Henry to lawmaker, who changed the laws to being able to get divorced.

One of the reasons Henry is so drawn to Boleyn is that she promises him that she can provide him with a male heir, which of course Henry had failed to do with his previous wife Catherine. So this was suddenly very appealing to Henry as so was happy for him to marry her. This then shows that Boleyn has a lot of power over Henry as she can persuade and also most manipulate him into doing as she wishes, like the divorce and the fact that she returns from court after Henry sent her away. This both shows that she has control over him as she can do what she wanted around him but also that Henry must obviously really love her as he wanted to be around her. Having this power and obvious strong love for her, Boleyn would then be able to try and get Henry to do whatever she wished, like getting a divorce, so that she is able to marry him. However Henry would of course also play a huge part in this process, as he would be the one the that would've needed to create the law to divorce his wife and to marry Boleyn. Henry’s desperation for a male heir would also increase him wanting to get the divorce as Anne had recently become pregnant therefore meaning that if she gives birth to the son thats shes promising so much that she will have then him and Anne need to be married. It’s very clear how determined Henry is to get a male heir for he promotes Henry Fitzroy as Duke of Richmond, who his illegitimate son, to suggest that he would consider using him as king if no others are produced as he would be high enough in the church to make this possible. Also due to him needing a heir so much if he was following the leviticus views then the marriage between him and Catherine is actually illegal and therefore can’t have children, so he would need to get married to someone else because they shouldnt of married in the first place, which is why he is so for the divorce. I think Henry is the more important figure for this because he is one that desperately needs a male heir so even though he loves Anne at the moment it is very clear that it doesn't last very long and so he could of found anyone to give him a son.

Overall I don't think Anne is the most important person for getting the divorce for the King because even though she could have influenced him in the matter she wasn't the one who actually got anything done, she was just an extra that wasn't necessarily for the process to happen. I think Henry was the more important person because he was King and he was the one who put in charge Cranmer and Cromwell who made the laws and got them married, but to be honest he could have got anyone to do that for him, making Henry the more important person for the divorce.
