As a future nurse and healthcare administrator, I found this article intriguing and unique. Even though this article grew out of a turnaround for one healthcare system, others nationwide would be wise to adopt and follow its discoveries. First, Dr. Kaplan and his board identified their current management procedures benefited themselves, employees, vendors, rather than their patients. To resolve this, his board adopted the production and management methods of Toyota, the leading carmaker, in identifying their target consumer, their patients, and ways to identify, reduce if not eliminate waste. It is a good idea to take careful note of any directions given in your assignment, and to check with your professor if you have specific questions. Contents 1. 2. 3. Guidelines Sample Annotated Bibliography Sample Standard Reference List/Bibliography Guidelines The following is a summary of things to know when creating an APA style annotated bibliography:  The annotated bibliography consists of two elements o Citation in current APA style format o Annotation The annotation will follow the citation on the next line. There is not an extra space— double spacing is used throughout. An annotation is different from an abstract. It should have several sentences summarizing the main points or ideas found in the item. It should then include your own statement evaluating the quality of the item and/or relating the item to your own research topic. For a longer annotated bibliography, it is appropriate to divide into sections or topics, and to title those sections as seems fitting.    Note: These annotations are for illustrative purposes only and have no relationship to the content of the sources. Paper

...Directions for Annotated Bibliography You will provide an annotated bibliography of 25 references that you plan to use for your research paper. This must be in APA format, with a cover page and references that each includes a summary, analysis and reflection. This assignment is due by 12 midnight (EST) on the Sunday of Week 3. Why do an annotated bibliography? The Writing Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill provides an excellent response: A good annotated bibliography: • encourages you to think critically about the content of the works you are using, their place within a field of study, and their relation to your own research and ideas. • proves you have read and understand your sources. • establishes your work as a valid source and you as a competent researcher. An annotated bibliography is a list of sources and includes APA formatted references to the articles, books and resources (all which should have been found through the Liberty University Online Library) which one has compiled for a research assignment. Following each reference is a brief description and an evaluation of the source. The purpose of an annotated bibliography is to benefit the researcher and provide the content, relevance and quality of the sources. Do NOT simply cut and past the abstract as the annotation, as they are not the same. Abstracts are summaries of a source, whereas annotations also include a short summary. Abstracts include a critical...

Assessment Preparation Checklist

...you will discuss plagiarism and judge an argument. Look at the following points before attempting the assessment. You have just been given an assignment to write an annotated bibliography. Before you begin, you need to know what exactly an annotated bibliography is and how to get started. First, what is an annotation? An annotation is more than just a brief summary of an article, book, Web site or other type of publication. An annotation should give enough information to make a reader decide whether to read the complete work. In other words, if the reader were exploring the same topic as you, is this material useful and if so, why? How is an annotation different from an abstract? While an abstract also summarizes an article, book, Web site or other type of publication, it is purely descriptive. Although annotations can be descriptive, they also include distinctive features about an item. Annotations can be evaluative and critical as we will see when we look at the two major types of annotations. What is an annotated bibliography? An annotated bibliography is an organized list of sources (like a reference list). It differs from a straightforward bibliography in that each reference is followed by a paragraph length annotation, usually 100–200 words in length. Depending on the assignment, an annotated bibliography might have different purposes: * Provide a literature review on a particular subject * Help to formulate a thesis on a subject * Demonstrate the...
