Online Learning Vs. Traditional Learning
Angiello, R. (2010). Study Looks at Online Learning vs. Traditional Instruction. Education Digest, 76(2), 56. In this short article, Angiello examined the impacts of online education as opposed to traditional learning. She questions whether students learn well as online or in traditional classrooms. She performed a study to give some insight on the issues of online learning verses traditional learning. The study ended with those of who took the online classes performed better than those in a traditional classroom. This article will generally be used to corroborate assertions I make pertaining on why I feel online learning is better than your traditional learning. I think Angiello's “Study Looks at Online Learning vs. Traditional Instruction” will provide an excellent template of what my paper could look like.
MILLIRON, M. D. (2010). Online Education vs. Traditional Learning: Time to End the Family Feud. Chronicle Of Higher Education, 57(11), B30. In this article Milliron explains how online learning is typically easier to attend because in an online setting you area actually getting things done much faster than the traditional way of schooling. I say these things because when you're online it is much more easier for someone to type in information and get things done quicker than the traditional way you would take a lot longer because you are having to write down everything.
Kirtman, L. (2009). Online versus in-class courses: an examination of differences in learning outcomes. Issues in Teacher Education, (2). 103. In this periodical Kirtman states that there has been an increase number of students taking online courses. She also explains the learning outcomes

...Courtney Schluter Teresa Scott ENC 1102 18 July 2015 Annotated Bibliography-Fairy Tales Zipes, Jack. The Irresistible Fairy Tale: The Cultural and Social History of a Genre. Princeton, NJ: Princeton UP, 2012. Print. Jack Zipes is an American Professor of German who lectures and publishes about fairy tales, their evolution, and their social and political role in civilizing processes. He believes that fairy tales serve a very social meaning. He also believes that women had a very powerful impact on fairy tales by focusing on paintings, drawings, etc. This particular book focuses more on the cultural and the social aspects of fairy tales just like Jack Zipes agrees with. I didn’t realize that culture and social aspects had so much to do with fairy tales. It opened my eyes to see the past and true roots of a fairy tale. Grimm, Jacob, Wilhelm Grimm, and Maria Tatar. The Annotated Brothers Grimm. New York: W.W. Norton, 2004. Print. This book really opened my eyes up about culture. Jacob Grimm and Wilhelm Grimm didn’t set out to entertain children at first. They did not expect any type of entertainment for that matter. The fairy tales in this novel are so much different than the ones that I was told as a kid. These are the true fairy tales. They are not a type of imagination. Culture played such a huge role in fairy tales; especially back when the Grimm brothers actually wrote the fairy tales. This book was interesting to know that the Grimm brothers really...

Below you will find sample annotations from annotated bibliographies, each with a different research project. Remember that the annotations you include in your own bibliography should reflect your research project and/or the guidelines of your assignment. As mentioned elsewhere in this resource, depending on the purpose of your bibliography, some annotations may summarize, some may assess or evaluate a source, and some may reflect on the source’s possible uses for the project at hand. Some annotations may address all three of these steps. Consider the purpose of your annotated bibliography and/or your instructor’s directions when deciding how much information to include in your annotations. Please keep in mind that all your text, including the write-up beneath the citation, must be indented so that the author's last name is the only text that is flush left. ...Example An Annotated Bibliography for Romeo and Juliet · The student writing this Annotated Bibliography is doing their essay on the performance aspects of the play. Therefore their annotations will deal with how the material is useful in that area. The annotations in this example are not 150 words but yours MUST be. You would be expected to add such items as useful quotes, passages etc. that you could use in your essay as support for your thesis. Davis, Lloyd. “’Death-Marked Love’: Desire and Presence in Romeo and Juliet.” Shakespeare Survey 49 (1996): 57-67. Knowing that the love of Romeo and Juliet will end in tragedy from the onset of the play, it is how the events of the play lead to the tragedy that is the essence of the play. Davis explores the darkness and deceit connected with desire and love. Holmer, Joan Ozark. “’Draw if you be men’: Saviolo’s Significance in Romeo and Juliet.” Shakespeare Quarterly 45.2 (1994): 163-189. The fencing material in the play is probably derived from the fencing manual of Saviolo, Vincentio Saviolo his Practise. Salviolo’s ideal view that “condemns male quarrelsomeness as irrational when it pursues personal revenge rather than godly truth and justice” is a source for both tragic and comic elements in the play (189). Levin, Harry. “Form and Formality in Romeo and Juliet.” Shakespeare Quarterly 11.1 (1960): 3-11. Levin points to the unconventionality of the play. Such scenes include the eavesdropping...

...relation to your own research and ideas. • proves you have read and understand your sources. • establishes your work as a valid source and you as a competent researcher. An annotated bibliography is a list of sources and includes APA formatted references to the articles, books and resources (all which should have been found through the Liberty University Online Library) which one has compiled for a research assignment. Following each reference is a brief description and an evaluation of the source. The purpose of an annotated bibliography is to benefit the researcher and provide the content, relevance and quality of the sources. Do NOT simply cut and past the abstract as the annotation, as they are not the same. Abstracts are summaries of a source, whereas annotations also include a short summary. Abstracts include a critical aspect to note the source’s author (why should s/he be considered an expert) and they explain the usefulness of the research being performed. Along with being an excellent source for APA formatting guidelines, The Owl at Purdue has helpful information regarding annotated bibliographies and also provides helpful examples. You can expect to keep copies of the annotated bibliography...

...Your assignment is to write a news article (about 600words) on a media research topic of your choice. A step-by-step guide for this assignment is below. Examples of Media Research Questions: Is movie marketing on the Web effective? Is a particular film based on a true story actually “true”? Does female body image in the media affect young kids? Does cyber-activism work? Should preschool aged children watch television? Was Edward R. Murrow the greatest journalist of all time? Is product placement in movies effective? Is illegal music downloading declining? 1. General Topic. Select your topic. Start with something general about the Mass Media and then narrow your idea. Think about all the areas and issues that have been/will be covered in this class. Select a topic you’d like to research further. Be sure you have a specific focus or point for your research. Don’t try to tell all there is to tell about some vague, general subject. Find an angle that’s fresh, interesting and worth a close-up look. The better your idea, the easier the assignment will come together for you. NOTE: Your topic must relate to an aspect of mass media.   2. Create Your Research Question. Steps in Creating an Annotated Bibliography: 1. Locate books, periodicals, and other sources that may contain information on your topic. 2. Critically examine the items. For a book, scan the jacket, introduction, table of contents and index. For an article, carefully review the abstract and main headings in the text. 3. After the initial review, select those works that provide useful information/perspectives on your topic. 4. Create an APA style reference entry for each item. 5. Immediately below the reference entry compose a concise paragraph that summarizes the central theme and scope of each book, article, film, essay, website, government report, etc. Typically, an annotation includes: 1 o information on the authority or background of the author 2 o a description of the intended audience for the work 3 o a comparison/contrast of the usefulness of this work with other items cited in the bibliography 4 o information that you discovered that would help another researcher investigating the same topic. ...Pre-writing Stage: Step 1: Step 2: The discussions in class and course materials should help you to determine how and where to find articles for your research. You must find two articles that are specifically related to your topic, which help you to support your position. (You might not need to use both articles, but it is better to have extra information in case one of your sources ends up not being useful). Step 3: Carefully read and annotate your researched articles. Step 4: Submit annotated bibliographies for each article. Annotations should summarize points made in the article and analysis of the ideas. In addition, you need to identify how specific ideas can be useful to you for writing your research. What specific quotes from the text might you choose to include in your essay and why (what do the quotes show and how could they fit within the context of your research)? ...Sample APA Annotated Bibliography With Instructions APA means American Psychological Association and often refers to the style of documentation adopted by that professional group, a style that features the date of publication more prominently than other forms of documentation. See the Hodges’ Harbrace Handbook (pp. 652-679***) and the PowerPoint presentation on APA under the Research Writing Resources in the Web Resources section of the ENC 1135 on-line syllabus for details. Since annotated means enhanced or clarified with notes, an annotated bibliography is a list of sources presented with comments on content and usefulness to the research under way. The list must be presented in alphabetical order by the author’s last name or the first word of the title (for a resource that shows no author), regardless of form of the source; that is book, journal, Internet page, and CD-ROM—with author(s) or without Sources—all appear together on one list. Do not number the entries on the References list. The forms for the electronic resources appear accurately and carefully on the Learning Resources pages of the IRCC site, or you may pick up the printed “Documenting Electronic Resources APA STYLE” at the Ft. Pierce campus library and at the sites. Carefully note that the title of an APA bibliography is “References.” All items on the sample list below are pure fiction, as are all comments; they are offered to provide example of proper form. ...Annotated Bibliography Drugs in Sport Calum Thouless Legend 2154980 (Kumar Neeraj, 2011) Spelling - Red Grammar - Green Sentence construction - Yellow Incorrect reference - Blue In this article Kumar Neeraj, Paul Maman and Sandhu J.S perform a survey to increase their knowledge and insight as to why the supporting factors of psychological and social could potentially lead players towards using drug abuse substances. The authors gained primary data by conducting surveys which 303 players participated in, with the questions consisting of performance enhancing attitudes, perfectionism and motivation among other factors. Their research focuses on reviewing the player’s answers to their surveys and their opinions on the different factors which could lead to drug abuse. This article is helpful to me as it indulges into the players own personal opinions on what factors lead to drug abuse in sports and there are multiple surveys in which these opinions are portrayed. The main limitation of the article is that the 303 participants were all in the age group of 18 to 35 which limits the opinions to older/former players or athletes. The authors of this article mention how much of this research is restricted to an individual’s perception rather than a whole team’s perception and that more in depth research needs to be conducted in order for this entire subject to be concluded. (Nadra E. Lisha, 2010) In this article the authors review data of 34 peer-reviewed quantitative...

...judge an argument. Look at the following points before attempting the assessment. You have just been given an assignment to write an annotated bibliography. Before you begin, you need to know what exactly an annotated bibliography is and how to get started. First, what is an annotation? An annotation is more than just a brief summary of an article, book, Web site or other type of publication. An annotation should give enough information to make a reader decide whether to read the complete work. In other words, if the reader were exploring the same topic as you, is this material useful and if so, why? How is an annotation different from an abstract? While an abstract also summarizes an article, book, Web site or other type of publication, it is purely descriptive. Although annotations can be descriptive, they also include distinctive features about an item. Annotations can be evaluative and critical as we will see when we look at the two major types of annotations. What is an annotated bibliography? An annotated bibliography is an organized list of sources (like a reference list). It differs from a straightforward bibliography in that each reference is followed by a paragraph length annotation, usually 100–200 words in length. Depending on the assignment, an annotated bibliography might have different purposes: * Provide a literature review on a particular subject * Help to formulate a thesis on a subject * Demonstrate the research you have performed on a...
