Is college worth anything? For many years, college has been seen as the vital goal for a child to reach for the satisfaction of his or her parents. Many parents want to see their child smiling with their degree in their hand and the mindset of knowing they have made it. Unfortunately with the economy dwindling down, many people are asking themselves this question "Is College still worth it?" With as many entertainers and celebrities that are rich and never finished college, it would seem that getting a higher education is pointless and a waste of time and money. In Anthony P. Carnevale's article title "College Is Still Worth It", he critiques and analyses how college, while is still a difficult thing to accomplish, will definitely allow others to reap many rewards in the future. Carnevale indicates that "The numbers that 16.6 percent of jobs, or nearly 25 million jobs, require a bachelor's degree . . . in reality over 30.7 million jobs or 20.4 percent of jobs are filled with workers who have a bachelor's" (368). Although many people might not make a big deal of these numbers and would probably think that since the number is a couple million off, that it shouldn't make a difference. Those people would be terribly misinformed because the difference of 5 million jobs is a lot of job openings to falsely misinterpret. Also Carnevale states in his article, "The most persuasive evidence that he BLS numbers are wrong with earnings data, showing that employers across the country pay a "wage premium" to college grads, even in occupations the BLS does not consider "college" jobs" (368). He states "postsecondary educated workers are more valuable and are more likely paid more than those without degrees" (368). It is clear that Carnevale shows evidence of how the BLS is unreliable and
