What defines an American? An American is someone who is free to go on their own path and strive for what they want, knowing that they can accomplish their goal.
One of the great things about America is the freedom to choose your own path and live your life to your standards. To be free of the restriction and oppression of the former land.

It gives a huge sense of culture as America is a place full of immigrants that give out their morals, life experiences, and differences like Anzia Yezierska. Here they have become men. In Europe they were so many useless plants, wanting vegetative mould and refreshing showers.” He felt that, here, he could now find his way to where he could always see what was ahead of him rather than sitting and waiting for something to happen.
