Personal Reflection While being in AP Psychology I have realized many different things about the brain and how people's lives can be very affected by different disorders. We have discussed serious mental disorders that people are unwillingly faced with. From people having a simple anxiety disorder to someone suffering with schizophrenia, the brain has the ability to do incredible, yet devastating things. Throughout my experience in the class, it has influenced the ways that I see many different things. I am very lucky not to have a life changing psychological disorder. This has also influenced my possible career path. I feel as if it would be great to work with people that have these serious disorder on hope to help them. Although…show more content… The brain is a huge mystery and is capable of so much. Many different things regarding psychology interest me, but when it comes to psychological disorders such as schizophrenia, dissociative identity disorder (DID), and even anxiety, these things automatically grab my attention more than anything else. I find it very interesting how issues may go wrong in the brain and how the brain can affect so much of one's life. The reasons as to why these things in the brain occur is still somewhat a mystery and treatment for these things still has not been perfected. Another big interest I have in psychology is emotion. I find it astonishing that the brain has the ability to create and affect one's emotion. The ways as to how this occurs is a very complex thing involving many different things within the brain. There are many different theories that involve emotion that regard emotion and things related to how one many experience emotion. Although these two topics of interest are most appealing to me, I find every psychological aspect very interesting and…show more content… Myers Psychology book has really helped me to understand everything about psychology. Although, I feel as if the book could be arranged in a different way from than what it is in order to allow for a better understanding of the different topics. I think that the book should start off with what is chapter 4, Developing Throughout the Life Span. This should be first because it will educate people about human development. I then think that chapter 1, Thinking Critically with Psychological Science, should be chapter 2. This will allow students to learn about the basic knowledge of psychology. My next chapter would then be chapter 3, Nature, Nurture, and Human Diversity. This chapter would be staying in the same spot because I feel as if it is in the correct spot because the nature vs. nurture issue is a huge topic when discussing psychology. Next, I would move chapter 2, Neuroscience and Behavior, to become chapter 4. I feel as if behavior and neuroscience should be discussed right after talking about nature vs. nurture. Chapter 13, Emotion, should then be moved to become chapter 5. It is important to discuss emotion while talking about human developmental topics. Chapter 16, Personality, should be moved to be chapter 6. This is because personality also fits into the categories of human development. Chapter 10, Thinking and Language, should be moved to become chapter 7 because now it is discussing the idea of one hinting for themselves and speaking.
