...Jan 31, 2013 Joe Steel APOL 104 As defined by Dr. Caner and Henson “a worldview is the framework of beliefs by which a person views the world around him” (1). Worldview is our perception of how we see the world, like a “lens” we see through, everyone has a worldview and your perception is dependent upon your beliefs. The question of origin – We as Christians have the worldview that God is our Creator and everything that we know is a result of God. (Genesis 1:1) Throughout the whole bible God is declared Creator from David (Psalms 139:13) to Isaiah (Isaiah 48), our worldview of origin is reaffirmed in scripture. The question of identity – We are created in the likeness and image of God, we are image bearers. (Gen 1:27) He has made us higher than animals, He has given us dominion over the earth, not so we can destroy or abuse it but so that we may take care of it for Him. (Gen 1:26) That is why if you were to eradicate mice, you most likely would not be sent to prison, but if you were to try and eradicate humans, you are most likely going to face prison and possibly the death sentence. The question of meaning/purpose – For the Christian, it is to know God and have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ for whom He sent to be reconciled back to him. (John 3:16) We are also to be Christ like in our walk so that others may see Him through us, He desires us to walk in fellowship. (Matt 22:3) Dr. Weider & Gutierrez hit the nail on the head when they said “Christianity...

It’s a set if the base of ablutions that helps us makes sense of reality Its ablutions about reality. With worldview you're only aware of what you see nobody is without a worldview, I think everyone has a worldview, worldview is your momentary views on life. Worldview acts the same way it affects the way we see everything. And how we view everything about life, about death, about politics, even religion it affects everything we see and makes decisions about everything. We all have different opinions and different perspectives on something. There are three categories of worldview, and they are: Naturalism, Pantheism and Theism With Naturalism and what I learn from this was that God doesn’t exist. It’s a source that can be known and what does and does not exist. Naturalism divides into two main perspectives which focus on epistemology and ontology. And secondly with Pantheism, its denies the existence of God. It revolves around the universe rather than for its creator. Pantheism is similar to polytheism, but it goes beyond religion to teach us that everything is God. For Theism and what I learn with this worldview, is that it's a belief that God does exist. Theism is a belief that only one God exist theism has many attributes. There are many different forms ...

...Theo 104 R P Campbell Taha Sufi 6/29/2015 Application Paper Introduction God created the universe and all his beings whether they may be seen by the eye or may they be superficial. Among such beings are Angels and Demons which have been present since the beginning of time and are under Gods direct control. Angels and Demons have been noticed of and spoken about in almost all religions and also in the new and old testament. Angels Theological Definition: Superhuman or heavenly being who serves as God's messenger. Angels have been mentioned almost 300 hundred times in the scripture. In the beginning they were part of the divine hierarchy and were created as beings ( Psalms 148:2) and (Psalms 148:5). Biblical Foundation: Though Angels have been mentioned a lot in the Bible and its relative books there biblical foundation stands questioned as no one knows when they were created, whether they may been created in the creation week or on the creation day. Though they have been present for all of eternity (Nehemiah 9:6 and Psalm 148: 2, 5), they have always worked for the betterment of mankind and have been delivering Gods faithful messages. Practical Application: Angels are referred to 108 times throughout the Old Testament and 165 times throughout the New Testament. Although the Bible does not provide specific figures, we are told that the number of angels are numerous (Daniel 7:10; Matthew 26:53; Hebrews 12:22; Revelation 5:11). They are there but we do not...

...If people approach the Bible without considering the historical or cultural context then it is easy for one to misinterpret the true meaning of what is happening or to not truly appreciate the significance of what is taking place. I always thought the phrase “Lord, I am not worthy to receive you but only say the word and I shall be healed” before receiving communion was a quick or mini confession. It wasn’t until I read Matthew 8:8 “Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; only say the word and my servant will be healed.” As I continued to read Matthew I realized that the express has nothing to do with confession but is about faith and believing! In John 4:1-42 we read a story about Christ traveling from Judea to Galilee and while passing through Samaria meets a woman at a well. After speaking with the woman for a short time she becomes a believer and leaves the well to go into town and spread the word of the Lord. The story itself is amazing but when put into geographical and historical context the feat of turning a Samarian woman into a believer is immense. The normal route from Judea to Galilee would have taken days and Samaria was not a safe place for Jews but Jesus had a divine appointment with a woman from Samaria. Not only was it a risk to travel through Samaria it was also risky to speak to a woman alone in public, this was not considered culturally acceptable at the time. So for Jesus to happen upon a Samarian woman at a well during the middle of the...

...Discussion Board 1 Draft 1. The bible says “but in your hearts honor Christ the lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect” (1 Peter 3:15) In the article, How Can We Know the Bible Is the Word of God? We are offered a number of characteristics that set the bible apart from other books. Even with the number of confirmed characteristics, skepticism still lies in the hearts of some. Knowing what you believe is necessary because without knowledge, how can we justify our beliefs? Being able to defend our beliefs makes our faith solid and offers no room for consideration of the theories of non-believers. 2. “You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all of your heart. I will be found by you declares the lord,” (Jeremiah 2:13-14) Being raised in the church does not necessarily determine whether you will adopt these beliefs as an adult. I believe that you can have the bible taught to you starting at a young age and still have your faith shaken if you do not fully accept God and his word in your heart. I believe that God is our eternal father and that Jesus Christ our savior is the son. I believe that the bible is the word of God. My beliefs are supported by significant evidence from the bible and further justified by the article mentioned above....

...Worldviews Apol 104 Seth Johnson Jamie J. Ickard 9/9/13 A worldview in simplest terms is the way that someone views the world. However the simple definition is definitely not as simple as it would appear, there are so many other factors that combine to make up an individuals worldview. Some of these factors include, the persons origin, where they are from, what belief system that they adhere to. The education they were given, what type of things that they were taught as they were growing up, which comes down to what others around that person hold to be true and have possibly become an influence their own perceptions. Essentially a worldview is the perception of the world, that an individual comes to based on that persons ideas and the beliefs that they hold to be true. According to Weider and Gutierrez (Consider, 2011) a worldview can also be described as the framework that a person uses in decision making, a filter or a lens that a person may use to interpret their life and the world around them, and basically a persons philosophy of life. (Consider, p. 51) One of the bigger aspects that people use when attempting to interpret their lives and the world that they live in is a religious or biblical aspect. As Christians our beliefs influence our worldviews, the lens that we see through significantly differs from what others may conclude when it comes to topics such as how we believe man came into existence, the origin of man, as well as meaning and purpose, identity...

...Part I What is a worldview? The definition of “worldview” is a particular philosophy of life or conception of the world. Let’s first understand how to define philosophy. Philosophy is investigating truths and principles of being, knowledge, or conduct. To define worldview let’s look at our reading for this week in Consider. The most descriptive sentence and the one that I feel describes and defines worldview the best is, “A worldview, then, is a response of our heart or inner being; our intellect, emotion and will. It is the total framework we bring to decision-making” (Weider 59). I am a fiery and passionate speaking person when delivering my worldview and when I read that sentence it resonated with me and I felt that fire spark within. Part II Articulate the biblical/Christian Worldview 1. The Question of Origin The Christian Worldview on origin believes that God is the creator of the world and everything in it. The creation process lasted for 6 days and it culminated for mankind on this day as that is when it is said man and woman were created. Notable scripture references to this are found in the book of Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:27. 2. The Question of Identity The Christian Worldview with regards to the question of identity sees man as a special creation of God. They believe God created man above the animals, below angels, and that man and woman were made in His own image. God intended for man to rule over and care for the earth and His creations in...

...Part I: What is a worldview? Worldview is the way a person sees the world around them. It is what we believe about the world and how it affects our actions and decisions. It is how we deal with life and death, morals and values, money, faith, science, work ethic, and anything else that would fall into a person’s perspective about life. Part II: The Question of Origin – (How did life begin? How did mankind come into existence?) Origin is the start or the beginning. It is as simple as Genesis 1:1—the beginning of the Bible and God’s creation. Genesis 1:26-27, clearly tells us how we got here—that God created men and women in His image. I did not evolve. Colossians 1:16-17 supports that God created everything including all things seen and unseen. The Question of Identity – (What does it mean to be human? Are humans more important than animals?) In Psalms 8:5 it tells us, “For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour”. At the same time we were created higher than the animals. And God said,” Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”, as it states in Genesis 1:26. The Question of Meaning/Purpose – (Why does mankind exist? Why do I exist?) As a Christian we believe the purpose of our existence is to know God. Christianity interprets...

...Worldview Assignment APOL 104 (September 7, 2014) Part I: What is a worldview? Worldview is the framework of beliefs by which a person views the around him. It translates from the German word weltanschauung which means “world perception.”(Hindson et al, 2008). Everyone has some type of worldview. As Christians, our worldview is using the Bible as our standard for our framework. Part 2: 1) The Question of Origin This question asks, “How did life begin?” and “How did mankind come into existence?” (Weider et al, 2011). Origin is the start or the beginning. It is as simple as Genesis 1:1—the beginning of the Bible and God’s creation. Genesis 1:26-27, clearly tells us how we got here—that God created men and women in His image. I did not evolve. Colossians 1:16-17 supports that God created everything including all things seen and unseen. 2) The Question of Identity This question seeks to answer, “What does it mean to be a human?” and “Are humans more important than animals?” (Weider et al. 2011). God took a handful of soil and made man. He breathed life into the man. (Genesis 2:7). He created us to be below Him but above all of the animals as told in Psalm 8:3-9. We are His children. He gave is the power to live, move, and be who we are. (Acts 17:28). 3) The Question of Meaning/Purpose The question of meaning or purpose asks, “Why do I exist?” (Weider et al, 2011). ...XXXXXXXXX Liberty University APOL 104 March 27, 2015 What is a Worldview? Part One: A worldview is how each individual person views the world in a way that is most comfortable for them. It is our decision-making process that results from what we feel in our heart. I view the world with a Christian outlook with the Bible as my foremost guide. I try to make daily decisions based on honesty, faith and truth. Part Two: 1) The Question of Origin I believe what is stated in Genesis 1:1 that all creation started with the power and wisdom of God. Additionally, it is stated in Colossians 1:15-16 that God is the highest power in all creation. He has created all things whether we can see them or not. He created all creatures that walk the earth or soar among the clouds. 2) The Question of Identity God created humans in his own image. He is aware of us at all times; He states in Jeremiah 1:5 that he knew us when we were in the womb, that he sanctified us. I believe he gave us the knowledge to care for lesser animals. He states in Proverbs 27:13 that we should be aware of the health of our animals and see to their needs. 3) The Question of Meaning/Purpose God clearly states in Jeremiah 29:11 that He has a purpose for us. Additionally, He has planned for our care and well-being. God wants us to acknowledge His love. He states...

...Christopher S. Weatherup Dr. Matthew Chittum APOL 104 June 6, 2016 Understanding Today’s Worldview Worldview is a term referring to how an individual perceives the world, what they believe to be true and what they do not. Every person on this earth, regardless of their religious affiliations or not, should have a “worldview”. Barna Research Group conducted a nationwide survey in which they were able to conclude that only a rough 4 percent of Americans had a “biblical” worldview. This is both startling and unsettling given the fact that 83 percent of Americans identify themselves as Christians. When Barna conducted his survey, he also correlated a person’s worldview with their moral beliefs and actions. The Bible is the most owned book in America yet many Americans only understand a very small percentage of what’s inside, nor do they understand how the Bible correlates to their life and the meaning. The author of Understanding the Times, David Noebel, defined what exactly a worldview is when he said, “It’s any ideology, philosophy, theology, movement or religion that provides an overarching approach to understanding God, the world and man’s relations to God and the world.” Whether knowingly or unknowingly, every person young and old has a worldview. From the young toddler who believes they are the center of the universe, to the Muslim extremist who believes by dying in the name of Allah will earn them many virgins in their afterlife. As a Christian, our worldview should be...

...World View Assignment I: What is a worldview? To have a world view means that you have created a personal opinion of life. Those opinions you have created, help you make decisions as well as help you learn how to portray the world around you. As to be expected, one man’s worldview will not be the same as yours but it is always good to share your views with other people to hopefully open their eyes to your perception on certain topics. Finally it’s also good to listen to other people’s views to expand your own personal knowledge on the Christian world view. II: 1) The question of Origin As stated by the Christian world view on the origin of life, the inception of everything that exists was a result from God himself. The naturalist’s theory states that life came from non-living matter. We know, for a fact, through our Christian beliefs that life came in the form of our externally living God (genesis 1:1). We can honestly say that we did not come from animals, but were created by God himself. 2) The question of Identity The question of Identity is answered in the Bible. It states that men were created in God’s image and likeness, to replenish and subdue the earth and have power over every living thing on earth (Genesis 26-28). This basically means that man was created to reproduce and keep things on earth in an active state. We, as humans, are to always be the superior species here on earth. 3) The question of Meaning/ Power The Christian world view on life meaning...

...APOL 104 Critical Thinking Essay This term we have covered a reasonable amount of materials based on the different types of religions in the world. There are many religions that have strong views and principles, and in order to understand them we must have an open mind and a true understanding of their beliefs. For the purpose of this essay, I will focus on the world views of Islam and compare it to Christianity. Followers of Islam are known as Muslims. They believe Islam was founded on the teachings of the last Holy Prophet Muhammad. Abraham, Moses and Jesus (to name a few) were also a series of prophets of Allah. Muslims believe “Allah” is the only God. He is the creator and sustainer of the world, Muhammad was his messenger. In Islam, Allah created mankind separate from animals. Animals are not abused nor killed. Muslims endeavor’s to live an Islamic lifestyle.
