...Application Paper Introduction Organizational behavior, which studies the impact that individuals, groups, and structure have on behavior within organizations, has a purpose of applying its knowledge toward improving an organization’s effectiveness (Colquitt, 2015). For past 2 weeks, total of six groups presented their topic related to organizational behavior. On May 14th, groups presented materials on office etiquette, difference between successful and poor management in health care, and effective communication. Groups on June 4th delivered their information on harassment in workplace, motivation, and workplace diversity. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the application of the content reviewed in past two class meetings for the future profession. May 14th, 2015 The presentation on office etiquette was very inspiring. Etiquette, an ethical and socially acceptable behavior regarding professional practice or action among the members of a profession in their dealings with each other, is a very important aspect that helps smooth the interaction within the workplace (“Etiquette”, n.d.). Office etiquette is important because it can act as a key to effective communication and an obstacle at the same time. As a future nurse manager, I will be dealing with people above and below my level, who I need to show proper manner to gain respect and a sense of professionalism, and promote effective communication without any distractions like inappropriate office etiquette. I will...

...My intended major is History, with which I would like to be a teacher. I developed an interest in history at a young age, as I found it interesting and directly related to my life. I have been fortunate to travel the world and through those travels have gained real life experience in world cultures and their stories. These real life activities directly effect my school work and the inspiration from travels can add extra spirit when I become a teacher. My love of history must be accredited with my humble beginnings as a child in love with understanding the immense world around me. I had always wanted to know more and my expression of that was in inquiring. My father is in the military and thus I moved around a lot. Each new locale gave me a increased appreciation for the new and unexplored. Living in great cities like Kansas City, Philadelphia, and San Diego created diversity. History was a subject which helped me understand my new surroundings. My love of history started with the classes I took even in elementary school , absorbing information so fast I couldn’t get enough. My school and early life was not the only source of inspiration in my wanting a history degree. My general love of humanity lends to my inclination of history. No where can this be better explored then in traveling the world and seeing it first hand. The experience of travel is exponential in creating memories of places and events. These memories add life when learning and eventually teaching history...

...I chose Paul Gauguin’s “Woman in a coffeehouse, Madame Ginoux in the Café de la Gare in Arles” for this assignment. Its media is painting with oil paints in various warm colors being used to tell a story. Burnt orange upper walls blending into tan lower walls set the tone of this painting as an entertainment area that feels hot in temperature as you look at it. At one table there are two men that appear to be placed in the background because they are both drunk with one actually passed out on the table. Directly in front of them our eyes are drawn to two balls; one is white and the other is orange. This is bringing the color of the walls down onto the table. The third ball lines you up to see the woman in the front right corner who is sitting alone. Her face is tan like the lower walls and if not for the thin outline of her face, she would merely fade into the wall. The clothing worn by five of the seven people in the room is very dark, holding a depressed feel to them. At a table directly behind the lonely woman are two people, a man and a woman who appear to be the life of the party through the colors of their clothing. The man’s orange shirt, like the pool ball, brings the upper wall color down lower into Gauguin’s painting. It keeps your eyes within the center of the painting. There is a painting on the wall in the background that balances the table of the lonely woman who sits at the front of the picture. Her table top is light in color showing us, like...

...For that station, Pranav needed to go through his writing and find the evidence he had provided when his teacher had assigned him the prompt. He saw that his paper did not have convincing examples to support his thesis statement. The evidence did also not add much value to his thesis because of its generality. Though, his commentary did connect his examples to the main idea of the prompt, but its weakness made the essay sound a little less professional and made him sound less like an expert. Through doing the station, he learned that he should use either real evidence or convincing made-up ones. For example, using a university study example would be more convincing than general evidence. In addition, he learned that he could use someone he knows personally as a piece of evidence, but he would have to do it without telling his relationship with...

...I helped the students with their math, science, English and travel & tourism homework. I worked with a student on a social story on how to greet others. I helped a student organise their binder. I met a student’s mother this week while attending a meeting. I started researching for more social stories on communication So this week was slow again because of the academic award ceremony. The first two periods were pretty empty of students so I mostly did research for the social stories. I honestly never knew how hard it was to find paper social stories. With everything being on line now it’s a nightmare. Looking at from a social worker perspective this is a barrier for the student. The student cant afford an I-pad and the school does not...

...of Mobile App Stores: There is more than Open vs. Closed Roland M. Müller1, Bjorn Kijl2 and Josef K. J. Martens3 1 Berlin School of Economics and Law, Department of Information Systems, roland.mueller@hwr-berlin.deUniversity of Twente, School of Management and Governance, 2 b.kijl@utwente.nl, 3j.k.j.martens@alumnus.utwente.nl Abstract The purpose of this paper is to analyze the competition among mobile app stores for smart mobile media devices. Therefore, the business models of seven mobile app stores are analyzed with a special focus on Apple and Google. We use e3-value modelling - a formal business modelling technique - for analyzing the critical elements of these mobile ecosystems. The analysis of the app store ecosystems allows a differentiated view on the different strategies of the app store owners. Additionally, we look at the impact of network effects, economies of scale, platform differentiation, quality assurance, and transaction costs on the design of mobile application markets. This theoretical model allows a deeper discussion about the design choices and success factors in the different app store cases. Based on our analysis, we expect that the open versus closed models discussion becomes less relevant - so-called open platforms have closed aspects as well as the other way around - and that competitive differentiation and segmentation strategies will become increasingly critical in order to strengthen the competitive positioning of the different app store platforms...

...writing. In fact, the three universities that I have attended in the past have all required me to use the APA style of writing. As I recall my high school years, the APA style of writing also seemed to be a favorite amongst my high school teachers. They all required that term papers be written in APA style as well. This type of writing actually does not differ much from the ones included in the text reading. The text mentioned the APA style of writing several times. In my opinion, it appears to be the most popular style of writing, especially amongst college students. Based on the results of the quizzes, my grammar skills were actually a little better than average. I actually had expected to do better, but I guess my grammar skills are not as good as I thought they were. In any event I feel very confident when it comes to spelling, as I have always been a great speller. Even in grade school, I was a good speller. I learned at a very young age to challenge myself when it comes to spelling. Challenging my-self in that area really paid off as I became older, as I’ve never had a problem with spelling. However, I feel that I need more help with run on sentences and with thought patterns. Though I proof read my paper several times, it’s hard for me to see that I have several run on sentences until after I get my grade back. In general, I feel that my writing is just mediocre. However, I also believe that when it comes to writing, I am my own worst critic. Reason being, I am never...

...How to Write a Good Academic Paper? That is a question which most students ask and most of them are new to academic writing. Academic writing if taken as a whole, then it would help you figure its significance and what is more important is, it would help you understand the purpose of it. Any good academic writer’s quality is his/her mind is loaded with creative set of ideas that help him navigate through the whole topic of academic paper. Ideas lead you to somewhere and only a few good students are gifted by nature and if you are not then you can also build up a good rhythm of academic writing. Secondly, you should also have a good sense of your audience; you should know what element of your academic writing would entice them and also create some space for your write-up for reading in their schedule. You then research for resources and data that would be of great use to enlighten your readers. Knowing what you audience wants, should be in your priority because readers enjoy what they seek in your writing. Usually what they look out for is something that could either bring them a smile or get them to think over the subject.
