Apple, Google and Microsoft

...the business models and areas of strength of Apple, Google, and Microsoft. Answer Apple:  It has the basis of creating a very strong hardware base for the internet future and thus logically they play their role in this battle by laying emphasis on the hardware that facilitates mobile computing. Apple has gone into the stance that applications, one of the major earners for tablet and phone manufacturers, should be device restricted. For example, one application should be unique to the brand of the device and should be allowed to function in another device from another separate brand. They even stopped Google in its plans to allow Google applications to work on Apple products. Thus by doing this Apple is trying to capitalize on their loyal customer base and create a Apple weds Apple scenario. Google: Google is the believer in the concept that in the future the devices used to run the applications and other internet options should be a fraction of what they are being charged now and instead the revenues generated should be from the in-app advertisements. Google even bought AdMob, an application advertisements development company, to work on such a concept. This future, Google and Microsoft have tried their hand at going hardware friendly but they still do not put the same emphasis on the hardware as Apple. Microsoft: Microsoft has laid its bet on the operating system on which the mobile computing devices shall run. Microsoft also has announced plans to develop the hardware...

Apple vs Microsoft

...MICROSOFT VS MACBOOK INTRODUCTION May 2006 marked a special moment in computer history. Apple introduced the MacBook: the first consumer Apple laptop that runs on an Intel chip. This is significant because Windows users now can truly compare Windows-based laptops to the MacBook family. The speed of the MacBook is on pace with the speed of PC laptops. Windows users have less and less reasons to remain Windows users. Running parallel to the increasing reasons to consider Mac over Windows is the fact that our world has evolved from a desktop world to a laptop world. Laptops are so fast and well-equipped nowadays that they serve the needs of not only consumer users, but also professional users such as graphic designers and high-end Photoshop users. There's now only two groups of users that should even consider buying desktops:1. mega-power users. This includes hardcore gamers, 3d animation users and professional video editors. These guys need the fastest machines available to make their processor-hogging routines running faster and faster.2. super-budget users. You can get a nice desktop for $500 nowadays. nice laptops go for about $1000+.That leaves the rest of us. And that's a large group. Laptops offer a freedom that no desktop (or even an iMac) can offer: Portability. Use the laptop on the couch while watching TV. Use it at your desk to get serious work done. Use it on the deck to enjoy the spring weather. Use it at the coffee shop or library to simply look cool. Plus, they...

Microsoft Surface vs. Apple Pad

...Case Study – Microsoft Surface vs Apple iPad Since its first introduction in 2010, Apple iPad has been dominating the tablet market. It is safe to say that the Apple iPad paved the road for the modern tablets. Nearly every company tried to copy the iPad, except Microsoft. In fact, Microsoft tried really hard to differentiate itself completely from the usual tablets on the market and compete directly with the iPad. In 2012, the company created a tablet, which can run both in tablet mode and desktop mode, and named it “Surface RT” or simply “Surface”. The Surface came with multiple preloaded software and the ability to edit Microsoft Office files. Microsoft Surface was without a doubt unique and unprecedented and had all the bells and whistles. Thus, one may ask, Why is Microsoft struggling to make sales on its tablets despite their versatility, features and smart design? What are the primary mistakes Microsoft made that had led to the Surface suffering in the Tablet market? What branding mistakes led to this current predicament for Microsoft? There is a number of mistakes or poor decisions that could have led the Microsoft Surface sells to suffer in the market. First and foremost, Microsoft missed the mark on branding its tablets. The name “Surface” used to be associated to an interactive computer table with a big touchscreen. Only few people knew of the existence of that device. Thus, after the failure in the Surface table, Microsoft decided to reuse the name for its...

...Competitive Strategies Student Name Professor Name BUS 508 Contemporary Business Date Differences of Apple and Microsoft corporate culture Scully (2011) gave a bird's eye view of Apple and Microsoft corporate culture. He said "In Steve's world, 'No compromises'.' In Bill's world, 'Hey, compromise is alright. We'll get it right the third time. We just want to have a land grab'." According to Scully, the two have entirely different approaches, both very, very successful. But in the era of consumer electronics, the Steve Jobs approach is a hands-down winner. Williams (2011) said that if there is one key difference between Microsoft and Apple, it is secrecy. Apple rarely shows its hand before a product is ready to ship. Microsoft usually offers sneak previews of products months, sometimes years, in advance. Sethi (2012) revealed the two corporate values that Apple implements - value and cost culture: When it comes to customers, Apple applies the notion of value. For example, Apple’s pricing strategy that is driven by its focus on the value. The customer is willing to pay a price that is equal to the product's perceived value to the customer. However, as long as the customers are satisfied, Apple is under no obligation to reduce its prices. When it comes to workers' wages and working conditions, Apple uses its dominant market position or buying power to acquire these services at the lowest possible price, thus keeping the largest share of the profit for itself and...

Why Apple Is Better Than Apple Inc.

...What is better, Microsoft Inc. or Apple Inc.? Quality or average? Which do you prefer or own? I hope you picked Microsoft, because I know that it is better than Apple Inc. Microsoft does not have cheap white designs that get boring. You can do a lot more things on a PC that a Mac. Meaning you can run more programs and use them more efficiently. They are perpetually better than Apple Inc. at gaming. Apple Inc. has too many restrictions on them and not enough power to run some of the bigger games such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 1-3. These reasons prove that Microsoft is better. First off, Microsoft Inc. is better than Apple Inc., because you can run more programs and use them more efficiently on a PC than on a Mac or MacBook. You do not see people messing around with binary code on a Mac do you. No. Because Apple’s products have restrictions on them so that people cannot use them to their maximum capabilities. Some vital programs that have to download or manually installed cannot because of Apple Inc.’s restrictions on their computers. This can leave you behind if your colleagues have better software on PC’s. In addition, unlike Apple Inc., You can use Microsoft’s phone directly on your PC, Apple will only let you back them up and...

Computer Company Battles

...the favor of Apple Computer Company; it presents Apple as a space age company and at the same time shows its competitor the Microsoft Computer Company as an out dated company. This picture is clearly more focused on promoting Apple as the better company, but where is the proof. The truth is there is none, no facts of figures just a lovely picture they would love for you to take a face value. This picture is clearly one sided and uneven Apple and Microsoft each have their own pros and cons and to display them in such a manner is irresponsible. The first thing that caught my eye was the very different expressions on the opposing mechanics faces. The Microsoft mechanic has a frown on his face and his hand on his head, while the Apple mechanic seems to be standing tall with a huge smile. Again they are trying to make it seem like with Microsoft you will be unhappy, but with apple you will be on top of the world. Besides the two mechanics if you take at the cars the Apple car is slightly bigger to make it pop just that extra little bit. Further more the Apple car is space age looking while the Microsoft car looks like its ready to be junked soon. So this was not a picture taken by a photographer but you can the artist did some tricky things to make Apple stand out just a bit more. First of all as I mentioned before he has made the Apple car slightly bigger just so that your eye is more easily drawn to Apple’s car. Even the Apple logo is bigger than the Microsoft logo. The artist...
