Abstract
The need to encourage house or homeownership has been in the government’s strategic plan since 1934, however, the current financial policies and practices in the housing finance and the mortgage market has characterized by minimum flow of capital in the secondary mortgage market, confusion on the main control authority and various ill practices. This fact has necessitated various changes in the house and homeownership financial. This study collected both primary and secondary data, and found out that the government must set the right policies that will empower house and home consumers to circumvent biased practices and practice informed decision making, these sentiments. There must be improvement in the foreclosure processing and mortgage servicing, notably, from the beginning of the last financial crisis, foreclosures and NAR tried to work with administrators and regulators to formulate criteria for decreasing the risk of foreclosure. Corporate greed and overconfidence in the housing market were the main culprits to the economic downturn. As the US economy crashed, Wall Street and investors began to panic. This widespread panic was for good reason as huge multinational firms began to fail. One after another, these firms were about to go bankrupt. As the panic spread, stock prices began to plummet. As the US government tried to turn the economy around, it plunged further and further down. The effects of the recession not only hurt the US economy, but sent “shockwaves” throughout the world. I did not realize how close our economy was to collapsing. Ben Bernanke said, “If we don't do this tomorrow, we won't have an economy on Monday." When I heard this, it sent chills down my spine. How did we get so close to our economy collapsing? Toxic assets are one of the main reasons for our economy failing. These were loans given out to un-creditworthy individuals and unlikely to be repaid. To add to the problem, banks were issuing many of these high risk loans and the market became flooded with...

The physical movement of goods, called EXPORT cannot represent International business. International business is defined as “any commercial transaction-taking place across the boundary lines of a sovereign entity”. It may take place either between countries or companies or both. Private companies involve themselves in such transactions for revenue, profit and prosperity. If governments are involved, they need to maintain their image, dependency and economic growth. Sometimes economic ties are strengthened through such transactions. These transactions include investments, physical movements of goods and services, transfer of technology and manufacturing. ...Model This book is a practical blueprint for the revitalization of Africa. It envisions nothing less than the complete transformation of Africa into an economic and social powerhouse – from being the basket case of the world to a guiding light - showing the people of the world an example of living in peace with each other and in harmony with Nature. Although great thought and years of research have gone into the formulation of this entirely new economic development model, this book is not simply a treatise on economic theory, but rather a practical outline that is at this very moment being gradually implemented. Economies are confined by the laws that protect and govern their development. The policy changes put forth in this model are just that - individual economic policy changes put in place to allow the economy to develop in a way that is most beneficial to the citizenry of an African village. This model does not rely on a new type of man inhabiting the African village. Men in our model make decisions based on individual incentive founded in self-interest, as it exists within the confines of law. Thus the economic underpinnings of this model do not rely on a selfless citizenry acting for the betterment of the whole to remain logically consistent. With the goals of minimizing exploitation of people and degradation of...

...left blank PREFACE TO THE SECOND EDITION Since the publication of the first edition of this book five years ago several developments covering the money market, the government securities market and the foreign exchange market have taken place to strengthen their integration and enhance their efficiency. Efficient settlement mechanisms, greater transparency and best market practices are put in place, which facilitate faster transactions and lower their costs. Efforts have been concentrated on improving the credit delivery mechanisms. Although the Narasimhan Committee on the Financial System (1991) recommended the phasing out of the directed credit programme at 10 per cent of the bank credit not only the proportion has been retained at 40% level but its coverage has been considerably enlarged. The appropriate instrument to achieve distributive justice is fiscal policy not credit policy. Fiscal policy ensures the scrutiny of budget provision at various levels. Efficiency and economy in the spending of public money are ensured by the...

Today, the industry produces a wide range of automobiles and auto-components catering to both the domestic as well as foreign markets. The development of the industry has been shaped by the demand on the one hand and the government interventions on the other; the influence of the latter being considerable. Accounting Horizon

...(Part I): Conceptual Underpinnings and Economic Analysis Luzi Hail, Christian Leuz, and Peter Wysocki SYNOPSIS: This article is Part I of a two-part series analyzing the economic and policy factors related to the potential adoption of IFRS by the United States. In this part, we develop the conceptual framework for our analysis of potential costs and benefits from IFRS adoption in the United States. Drawing on the academic literature in accounting, finance, and economics, we assess the potential impact of IFRS adoption on the quality and comparability of U.S. reporting practices, the ensuing capital market effects, and the potential costs of switching from U.S. GAAP to IFRS. We also discuss the compatibility of IFRS with the current U.S. regulatory and legal environment, as well as the possible macroeconomic effects of IFRS adoption. Our analysis shows that the decision to adopt IFRS mainly involves a cost-benefit trade-off between ͑1͒ recurring, albeit modest, comparability benefits for investors; ͑2͒ recurring future cost savings that will largely accrue to multinational companies; and ͑3͒ one-time transition costs borne by all firms and the U.S. economy as a whole, including those from adjustments to U.S. institutions. In Part II of the series ͑see Hail et al. 2010͒, we provide an analysis of the policy factors related to the decision and present several scenarios for the future evolution of U.S. accounting standards in light of the current global movement toward IFRS. Keywords: accounting...
