The Appomattox Statue - Stay vs. Move?

It has recently been debated in Alexandria whether or not the infamous statue of a southern soldier known as the Appomattox Statue should remain in its prominent location on Washington and Prince Streets, or be moved to a less visible location in front of the Alexandria Lyceum. I believe that this statue holds with it decades of our country’s history and should not be taken down to make people feel better about our country’s past. The Appomattox Statue should stay in its current location due to historical, financial, and logistical reasons.
