British imperialism had a negative impact on the politics of India because the courts were biased and one million people died after Independence. Lalvani claims that the British established a court system. However Indians who were found guilty of crimes were punished much more severely than the British people ( Doc #4). This was because the majority of the jury and legislators were British and that meant Indians would always much worse punishment than other Englishmen. Lalvani also claims that independence was peaceful. Yet 1 million people died after independence (Gandhi). The British purposefully created conflict between the Muslims and Hindus to draw their attention towards each other rather than focusing on the British. After doing so
