This scene is done extremely well through the dialogue used- such as the kings evil laughter when he enters the room and the angle of the camera up on the king and down on the ginger man- showing the king as powerful and superior and the gingerbread man as weak and defenseless. ● Shrek's character development is shown through various scenes of him and Fiona enjoying each others company- when they are eating or making balloons from animals. The music here is "light" and happy, in contrast to the scary and suspenseful type music used in scenes with the king. This shows that Shrek is capable of "getting along" with another person and he is not actually scary or dangerous like he wants everyone to believe he is- which challenges the traditional behaviors of an Ogre. ● Furthermore, Donkey makes us believe that Shrek is not a typical man-eating ogre by when he returns from finding flowers Shrek and Princess are smiling at each other and says "My, isn't this romantic" ● Archetypes: are there traditional heroes/ villains? If so what cultural values and attitudes do they support? ● Villain - is not a tradition villain as it’s the king (lord Farquaad) who banished all fairy tale...
