...“He would have caught a grenade for you. He would have threw his hand on a blade for you . He would have jump in front of a train for you. But, instead, He died on the cross for you.” I’m so glad to see this post on my Tumblr account and made this as my wall post on Facebook. These phrases are excerpt from the song “Grenade” by Bruno Mars. The first time I saw it’s music video, Bruno Mars was portraying a man carrying his piano while some people was making fun of him and he will do anything even risking his own life for the woman of his dreams even though she won’t do the same for him. I was actually getting the idea of just what like Jesus Christ did for the mankind. He carried the cross while the soldiers knelt down and pretended to worship Him. They made fun of Him and shouted “Hey, you king of the Jews!” Then they spit on Him. They took the stick from Him and beat Him on the head with it (Mat.27:29-30). He accepted all of these because God loves us and wants us to offer a wonderful plan for our lives and no one can ever do the same just like what He did for all of us. Not one of us could ever earn or deserve God’s love and forgiveness. He gives it free to anyone who will stop trusting in his own good works and will place all his faith in Jesus Christ to save him. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16). You are special to God that He sent His son, Jesus...

...How do you respond to this extract and how does Priestley make you respond as you do by the ways he writes? (30 marks) Birling: (jovially) But the whole thing's different now. Come, come, you can see that, can't you? (Imitating Inspector in his final speech.) You all helped to kill her. (pointing at Sheila and Eric, and laughing.) and I wish you could have seen the look on your faces when he said that. // Sheila moves towards door.// Going to bed, young woman? Sheila: (tensely) I want to get out of this. It frightens me the way you talk. Birling: (heartily) Nonsense! You'll have a good laugh over it yet. Look, you'd better ask Gerald for that ring you gave back to him, hadn't you? Then you'll feel better. Sheila: (passionately) You're pretending everything's just as it was before. Eric: I'm not! Sheila: No, but these others are. Birling: Well, isn't it? We've been had, that's all. Sheila: So nothing really happened. So there's nothing to be sorry for, nothing to learn. We can all go on behaving just as we did. Mrs Birling: Well, why shouldn't we? Sheila: I tell you – whoever that Inspector was, it was anything but a joke. You knew it then. You began to learn something. And now you've stopped. You're ready to go on in the same old way. Birling: (amused) And you're not, eh? Sheila: No, because I remember what he said, how he looked, and what he made me feel. Fire and blood and anguish. And it frightens me the way you talk, and I can't listen to any more of it. ...

...Do you agree with the view that Henry VIIIs foreign policy in the years 1514-25 failed because he lacked the resources to fulfill his aims? The failure of foreign policy in the years 1514-1525 can be attributed to many factors. Undoubtedly, the lack of resources was one of the main factors that contributed to the failure of Henry's foreign policy. However there are other factors that contributed to Henry being unable to fulfil his aims. Sources 4 and 6, both support the fact that the foreign policy did fail because of the lack of resources to fulfill the King’s aims. However all sources also suggest other possibilities to Henry's failed foreign policy. As soon as Henry took the throne in 1509, it was obvious that he was a king that wanted to fight a war, perhaps to show off his power. However, wars generally led to very expensive costs to the country. Henry's father, Henry VII, left the country in quite a stable state economically, but Henry devoted most of England's money into his campaigns to take over France. To some extent source 4 supports the idea that the foreign policy did fail due to the lack of resources, because it states that “the young warrior family accepted the fact that royal finances could not support a repetition of the campaign of 1513”. This quote implies that lack of resources seems to be the dominant reason for stopping Henry from invading France and therefore source 4 supports the statement to some extent. In the years 1514-25, it's clear that Henry...

...“Hitler became chancellor in January 1933 because he was the leader of the most popular party in Germany” – How far do you agree with this opinion. Hitler did not become chancellor in January 1933 because he was the leader of the most popular party in Germany, it was however to do with the support of the elite that made him Chancellor. There were other factors also such as the decline of the Weimar Republic and the economy but it was mainly to do with the conservatives. One factor that shows that the support of the elite was the reason that Hitler had become Chancellor was the event of the Bamberg conference. It could be argued that this conference had changed the ideology of the NSDAP and had made it more conservative. In the Bamberg conference, a new autocratic, and centralised structure was discussed, which stressed complete obedience to Hitler and the Fuhrerprinzip, and adherence to the “programme of 1920”. However it could be argued that the main reason why he had won the vote was due to the support of the elite, which includes Gustav Krupp and Hugenburg, who was a media tycoon. These elites had promised Hitler funding and they were against the radical anti-capitalism of Gregor Strasser. This shows how Hitler had become chancellor in 1933 because of the support of the conservatives as without them he may not have been the leader of the nazi party to start with. One argument that would show to some extent it was due to the fact that Hitler’s party was the most popular...

...Max Poole 6F Qu : The Poem ‘Out of Shot’ expresses a number of Heaney’s Major concerns. Discuss these and the ways in which he uses language to achieve his effect you may use other poems and resources The Poem ‘Out of Shot’ conveys a number of Heaney’s Major concerns Heaney’s eye for detail his interest in ancient Irish history, Heaney’s theme of violence and terrorism and Heaney’s theme of innocence . Heaney gives effect to these concerns through his use of language when conveying the ‘concerns’ in his Poem ‘Out of Shot’. Heaney’s eye for detail is a Major concern of his throughout the District and circle anthology of Poetry. His eye for detail is suggested firstly in the title ‘Out of shot’ as this literally means looking at the detail or things, which are ‘Out of Shot’ from other people’s vision and only ‘in shot’ of Heaney’s vision. More detail is expressed when describing Heaney’s stance when looking over the field ‘elbows lodged – strut firm’ Heaney’s is not just ‘leaning’ he has his elbows ‘strut firm’. Heaney’s use of, this type of language shows his eye for detail as it goes down to the very position or stance he maintains while leaning against presumably a fence looking over a field which in itself it a very simple idea but Heaney’s eye for detail can seen even by his stance. So it is almost contradictory in sense Heaney’s eye for detail in such as simple activity as looking over a fence into a field. Another aspect of detail Heaney focus’s on is the donkey...

...“The outbreak of war in Europe in 1914 was due to an aggressive German foreign policy which had been waged since c.1900” How far do you agree with this opinion? Explain your answer using Sources V, W and X and your own knowledge. It can be argued whether Germany’s foreign policy was the main reason for the start of World War One. Source W highlights that Germany’s actions since the 1890s had created international tensions but this was mainly due a handful of political and military leaders, source V goes onto say that pressure internally and externally drove Germany to create such an aggressive foreign policy, source X goes against this and illustrates that it was the alliance system that caused the outbreak of war rather than Germany herself. However, Germany’s aggressive foreign policy can be defined as the real reason for the outbreak of war in Europe in 1914 due to the evidence that has been provided. Germany’s foreign policy can be identified as the main reason for the outbreak of war, this is highlighted by source W “…German actions going back to the 1890s had done much to create international tension” This source suggests that tension between Germany and the other great European powers had been rising since pre 1990 and that these had contributed towards the start of the war. For example Germany’s policies of Flottenpolitk and Weltpolitik were very aggressive. Weltpolitik even meant ‘World policy’ and aimed for Germany to expand into a global power, this demonstrates...

...vulnerability". Do you think Othello’s downfall is a consequence of his own weaknesses or is he a victim, subject to circumstances beyond his control? Many different interpretations link to Othello’s downfall, including the part Iago and Desdemona play, and how the main character’s personality and actions affect the fate of the other characters. A point much contested by critics is how Shakespeare presents Othello himself: some, such as A.C. Bradley, hold the view that the General is a noble tragic hero, whereas F.R. Leavis would contradict this by claiming Othello to be a weak man whose fatal flaw is jealousy. Iago is a key instrument in Othello’s downfall and uses deception to plant the idea of Desdemona’s infidelity. He adroitly persuades Othello to accept this idea in a very short length of time. Shakespeare first uses Iago to develop the theme of perception when Iago hints at the topic of Desdemona’s supposed affair in 3:3. Iago then claims to have asked about Cassio ‘But for a satisfaction of my thought’. The idea of ‘thinking' is repeated many times after this, and is significant because of the way Shakespeare has the characters appear to perceive each other – for example how people see Iago, who is mentioned many times to be ‘honest’ – Othello even says ‘I know thou’rt full of love and honesty’ – and this dramatic irony allows him to successfully carry out his deception. The audience alone knows he is untrustworthy until late in the play, as he appears to be helping...
