Think about what would happen if there was no Eminem? Then there would be one less rapper that is in the music industry today. But more than likely what you are thinking right? Well it would not just be one less rapper. It would also be one less of a role model for anyone who cares about him. Eminem is an influence to the young life and even the adults. His songs are stories are on his life and things that he would have wanted to change or make different. Most of them are based on each and every subject that happened to him through his life. At first some of the children and growing ups in this time and some adults face some of the same problems he faced. Therefore, Eminem is an influence who expresses himself in his own different style or it is his character. His music is an influence because of its rhythmical story behind it. Let`s look at the song “Mockingbird” for example; it is a song of how Eminem’s daughter Hailie was growing up with her mom and her father was always on the news (Eminem) was always on the move. If u think about it, not everyone gets to see their father and mother every day of the week. Some of the children’s parents may work different shifts at their job and that would make it unable for the children to see them a lot or as much as they want this was being expressed during the song “Mockingbird Hailie barely got the chance to see her dad or her mom and stayed with her “Crazy Uncle Laney”. It is true that some of his music can be somewhat violent and explicit but this is what happened to him and he is willing to tell his story. What makes people listen is that he is being so open about the life that he is living and that we can relate to certain materials he went through. His song “Not Afraid” is also a good song to relate things to. This song is about how Eminem is not afraid to stand up for what he believes in and what he thinks is right. It is an influence on individuals for them to do the same. Basically it is saying, if you believe in something you should go after it even if someone tells you that you can`t do it u shouldn`t listen to them go with your instincts’ not what someone else says. Another thing about Eminem and his Importance is a person’s past does not necessarily depict his or her future. Eminem is a perfect example of how a person reacts to his or her past can create or destroy his or her future. Eminem grew up on the streets. He lived the hood life; scraping for pennies and scraps. He constantly argued with his drunken mother. He played the roles of father, mother, and brother to his younger sister. Eminem worked at jobs for little to nothing to help provide. As his life matured he battled with his daughter’s mother. This could have broken him down; for many it would have. But instead of lying around and creating self-pity for himself he went and made something of himself. When it comes to Eminem’s music it is one hundred percent pure success. His success took hard work and effort, but with his dedication it took flight. He battled other individuals who were in the rap game, and Eminem’s quick emotional lyrics dropped them where they stood. Even the most street thug rappers could not compare to what Eminem brought to the stage. He poured his personal emotions and experiences into his music. People can relate to reality. Eminem’s music was a cold, harsh reality. His music expressed his struggles from day to day, not what he saw transpire in the streets amongst other individuals. His music, his lyrics, his reality was the reality for his listeners. Even the listeners who were not experiencing hardships of Eminem’s kind were able to relate. Writing was his therapy, a coping strategy for the hardships that he faced on a daily basis. Since Eminem rapped about his real life experiences it made him more successful in the music industry and society. It gave his listeners something real to relate to. His lyrics, however, are not for individuals who are easily offended, young, or immature.
