Argumentative Essay: Gun Control Doesn T Kill People

Guns do not kill people. People kill people. The person is the one who pulls the trigger, killing someone. A gun cannot kill a person by itself. Some people disagree, and because of this, there is an issue on gun control, whether people should freely possess them or not. The debate is between making gun laws more or less strict, letting people wield them freely or not.Though the results of laws being less strict are far more acceptable than laws being more strict. Some reasons include that when guns are removed, crime increases, possessing a firearm can help with self defense, and when guns are taken out, gun violence still exists.

An article states, “Only police officers and soldiers can carry gun at all, and the cops have to leave their guns in a safe when they leave work. According to gun-control dogmas, that should pretty much keep gun violence down. But it doesn’t, in Japan anymore than in this country” (Francis 132). Japan only allows police officers and soldiers to carry guns, and even the limitations placed upon them are strict. The cops have to leave their guns in a safe when they leave work. Even when the guns were taken away from the public, crime still existed. Another article states “The national death rate from firearms has declined even while firearm ownership has almost doubled in the last 20 years, and 22 more states have liberalized right to carry laws” (Reynolds & Burnett 116). In opposite effect, with the amount of gun owners increasing, gun violence has been decreasing. Firearm violence does not exist with guns in use. Although, Just Facts states “Roughly 14,249 murders were committed in the United States during 2014. Of these, about 9,675 or 68% were committed with firearms.” In 2014, sixty-eight percent of the 14,249 murders in the United states. Though, statistics show that crime has been decreasing (Johnston 95). Even with guns in use, firearm violence has been decreasing over the years. In summation, without guns, gun violence still
