Helper contridicted slavery. Slavery supported his ruined visions of having a well developed country by invading his thoughts with thoughts of foreigners in his country. He felt as if his countrymen were uneducated for bringing people of a different country here. The problem did not lye in the fact that the slaves were being used for greedy intentions. His main concern was that the bringing of slaves could truly be detrimental to the country. The slaves could have bought diseases that could kill the population, or the slaves were dangerous and could have escaped and caused ruckus in their neighborhoods.
