The United States Immigration Law is known to be very complicated. There are many questionable opinions and arguments towards this policy. To this day the Immigration and Naturalization Act states that there is worldwide limit of 675,000 immigrants, which can change based on close family members. But this is not a recent problem it has been a problem since the 1770’s. In the very beginning Americans were immigrants traveling here to find jobs and escape being judged based on their views.This caused the Naturalization Act in 1790 which only applied to whites and said you had to have good moral character, and live in the United States for two years, almost 100 years later this was extended to african americans. It was reported that there was nearly three to five million undocumented immigrants already in the United States. Amnesty, the granting of legal status to immigrants who were already in the country was one of the main problems. If amnesty was not granted to you, it was thought that the immigrant would just go back to where they were from, or they would be fired from their job but that did not happen. This was because employers needed the help and since the immigrants were illegal they could pay them less but have just as much work completed. Then, the border restrictions did not work as planned because there was not enough money to hire more staff. I agree with this law because it is important that people who were citizens had a fair chance to have jobs instead of immigrants because of the amount of money that was going to be paid. I also agree that a person should be documented before working for a company due to fraud, and identity theft.
