This comment was not made in class; however, it was made in the video by the people being interviewed. When the people being interviewed were talking about the reasons why they find the use of Native Americans as mascots to be negative, one person says. “I can’t imagine any other race where that would be considered acceptable. This comment came from the fact that one of the football teams in America is called the “Redskins”. The term “redskins” is a derogatory term that is used towards the Native Americans. When the person being interviewed said this comment, I thought of any other possibilities that could be used as a team name; Gypsies and Rednecks. Gypsy is a racial slur toward the Romanian people and Redneck is one towards Caucasians.
