I have chosen to do my paper on the Army of God. This domestic terrorist group is against abortion. They are a US based Christian fundamentalist group. The Army of God encourages the use of brutality and violence against abortion clinics and homosexual groups of people. They choose to be a domestic terrorist group because they are against abortion and homosexuality. They are a highly into the Christian values and critical towards the government for not upholding or observing the Christian values.
This group believes that abortion is murder and if you look up the Ten Commandments, number 6 states that you shall not murder. This terrorist group targets abortion clinics and gay or lesbian gathering places. Eric Robert Rudolph
Eric Rudolph used the name Army of God in one of his bombings and police charged that he was probably persuaded by the group’s extreme right Christian identity. On July 29, 1988 Eric Rudolph admits to placing a bomb in an abortion clinic in Birmingham, Alabama. During this incident one security guard was killed and one staff member was injured. As quoted by Rudolph “I did not target them for who they were - but for what they did” (RUDOLPH, 2012). Rudolph believes that abortion is murder and also believes that deadly force is justified to stop abortion. Eric Rudolph was sentenced on July 18, 2005. He received life in prison without the possibility of parole. Rudolph pleaded guilty to attacks in Georgia and Atlanta to avoid the death penalty. This included the lethal blast during the Olympics of 1996.
Paul Hill was a former Presbyterian minister and passionate anti-abortionist. He shot and killed a doctor and his body guard at a Pensacola abortion clinic in 1994. Paul Hill is considered an American hero to the Army of God. Paul Hill was sentenced to death and was executed September 3, 2003 in Florida. Paul Hill What preventative law enforcement strategies have been used against the Army of God? In May of 1994 the honorable president Bill Clinton put his signature on the bill Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE). It then became an act which was legal and binding. This was in comeback to the unparalleled act of political “In response to this unprecedented act of political killings being carried out by pro-choice groups. This law protects both the staff providing the abortion services and the individuals using the services. It also bestows severe civil and criminal punishment for those individuals who violate or take the rules or law into their own hands and try to stop or use acts of violence against any abortion clinic or abortion services.
What precautions must law enforcement officers take when apprehending suspected members? In my opinion I would suggest that the law enforcement office use the same precautions on the suspect because they really have no clue on who they are encountering. Only that they have reason or probable cause or just cause to stop the individual or believe a criminal act is taking place. I would also note that neighborhood police are in the best situation to gather personal information in regards to secret plans or activities of an adversary or terrorist group from stool pigeon or informants in the communities they watch or make rounds in daily.
How terrorism has impacted the U.S. court system? The Global Justice Information Sharing Initiative (Global) Intelligence Working Group (GIWG) was created in 2002. A result of this was the National Criminal Intelligence Plan (NCISP).
The NCISP focuses its efforts on intelligence gathering and sharing among agencies. When law enforcement agencies collect the intelligence or information they will process and analyze it. Then distribution of the intelligence gathered will be sent to other agencies and reevaluated. The quality of information will be considered, examined and the extent of importance will be considered before law enforcement acts. This has led to more arrests of terrorist groups within the United States.
Do I believe or think that domestic terrorists should be tried in local, state, or federal courts? In my opinion they should be tried in federal court. They are domestic terrorists and they threatened the core of the United States and therefore they belong in prison and also belong in federal court.” More than 300 international and domestic terrorists have been convicted by federal courts and are currently behind bars in the U.S” (Should terrorism suspects be tried in federal court? 9/11 suspect Khalid Shaikh Mohammed will be tried in federal court, not by a military commission.). Courts are our most excellent line of judicial defense against terror campaigns and terrorism. Federal court is our only successful means of conserving our international standing, democratic institutions and national security.

...Phase 1 Individual Project Abnormal Psychology and the Workplace PSYC337-1204B-01 Professor Byers Jennifer Buchanan November 26, 2012 Abstract The definition of abnormality has gone through some significant changes through history. For centuries the causes of abnormal behavior has been debated. In ancient times supernatural explanations were offered to explain abnormal behavior, such as good vs. evil and displeasure of the gods. It was also believed that people who expressed behavior were considered to be possessed by an evil spirit. Then, in 460 B.C. Hippocrates, also known as the Father of medicine, proposed a biological explanation to the reasons behind abnormal behavior. He suggested that an imbalance of blood, phlegm, black bile, and yellow pile was the cause of mental illness. Along came the Greeks with their diagnosis and treatment for hysteria, and years later in 1896 Sigmund Freud developed his systematic theory of psychodynamics he believed to be the psychological components of hysteria. During the 20th century behaviorism, humanistic/cultural/normative perspectives emerged, drastically changing the way abnormal behavior is viewed. In this paper I will discuss how these perspectives in detail. I will also discuss how the terms normal and abnormal and how these labels can affect the people they are placed on in the workplace and in life in general. Pray and seek the Lord God Answers Jehoshaphat's prayers So why pray? A. Prayer admits our own limitations B. Prayer opens our eyes to the power of God IV. Conclusion/Summary Bibliography Introduction: There's a story in the Old Testament that people of God are faced with everyday. A situation that is utterly outside their control, a situation that threatens to completely destroy them; one they have absolutely no resources for and no ability to stop, and in which they are at a complete loss as to what to do. It's the kind of story in which, in their utter helplessness, they cry out to God and find that He comes to their rescue marvelously so that, though they started out with fear and trembling, they end with joy and rejoicing. Let’s take a look at the story about Jehoshaphat himself. A few generations before Jehoshaphat was born, all the twelve tribes of Israel had constituted one great nation. But King Solomon had failed to remain faithful to God; and so, the kingdom became divided under the reign of his son Rehoboam. The southern kingdom, Judah, was passed on to Rehoboam's son Abijah, then to Abijah's son Asa, and then to Asa's son Jehoshaphat. Over the course...

Ezekiel's Description Of Satan

...tail and horns. In reality, although he is a demon, he is beautiful. He was originally from heaven and his activity and demonic army are constantly on the verge of causing chaos. Satan was originally created as an angel with a magnificent appearance. At one point in time, he was one of God’s favorites. Ezekiel 28:12-15 talks about Satan being perfect until God found him immoral. Though Ezekiel is addressing these words to the King of Tyre, they are ultimately directed towards Satan. He is the creator of pride and cruelty. Many Christians do not accept this interpretation of Satan to be true. They consider this description to be a highly symbolic representation...

Salvation Army

...Salvation Army was found by William Booth and his co-founder, his wife, Catherine. Booth started his career in ministry in 1852, longing to win the misplaced persons to Christ. He preached the gospel of Jesus Christ to the poor, homeless, and hungry walking the streets of London. Booth abandoned the conventional concept of church and began taking his message straight to the people. In 1865, Booth was invited to hold a series of meetings in the East End of London and his services became an instant success. This was an end to his wandering and traveling evangelist. He was known as a religious leader throughout London and he attracted individuals that were dedicated to fight for the souls of the women and men. Some of Booth’s first congregation was thieves, prostitutes, gamblers, and drunks. His mission was to lead people to Christ and link them to a church for their future spiritual guidance. Many churches did not accept Booth’s followers because of their past. He continued to give guidance and encouraged his followers to help others in need. In 1874 Booth had over 1,000 full time workers, including volunteers and nearly 50 evangelists, all serving under the name “The Christian Mission”. Booth read over a printer’s proof for the annual report of 1878 and noticed the statement “The Christian Mission is a volunteer army”. He crossed out the words “volunteer army” and wrote in “Salvation Army”. From these words the basis of The Salvation Army started The Salvation Army has...

...often cites God as the reason he is in a position of great power. He often prevailed to be the more faith-filled leader, and was confident about talking about his faith; he had genuine faith in God. King Baldwin also consistently portrayed his strong leadership qualities that helped prove him to be not only the more faith filled leader, but also the more respected of the two. These qualities consisted of selflessness and unselfishness, trust in others and God, good judge of character, loyalty, and the fact that he was very wise. The King's rare ability to string the key qualities that make up a very good leader together made a large contribution to his success, along with his reliance and help from God. The first example of how King Baldwin was an effective faith filled leader can be proven through his confidence and refusal to back down to Saladin even though Saladin approaches him with a much larger army than he has. The King even stated "We must meet him (Saladin) before he reaches Kerak. I will lead the army. King Baldwin knows that God wants him to fight in the war versus Saladin despite the difference in army size, and he proves to be faithful as he indeed does lead his army into the war even though all odds are against him. This situation is the first example of how the King proves himself to be a good leader while keeping his faith intact with God. This is also a good example of how King Baldwin consistently showed loyalty to not only God but to the army and people as...

Queen Elizabeth I And Oliver Cromwell: How Rulers Maintain Their Authority

...Many rulers claimed that their power had come from God himself, and that He had granted them with divine rights. One very strong believer of divine rights, was King James I. This is shown quite dramatically by his speech “Kings are Justly Called Gods”, where he declares that the ruler is called god by God himself, and that the ruler acts as God’s lieutenants on Earth. Additionally, rulers could make important religious decisions. An example of this, is how King James I used his power to order a new translation for the bible, into English. This method relates to the religious aspect of the SPIRET model, because the claims of divine rights came from...

The Crusades

...In “The Capture of Jerusalem by the Crusaders”, author Raymond of St. Giles, Count of Toulouse clearly believed that it was Gods will which led them to capture Jerusalem. In “The Conquest of Jerusalem”, author Ibn Al-Athir stated discord between the Muslim princes led to the capture of Jerusalem by the Franks. From the beginning of the article, Raymond makes clear that it is God who led the crusaders to victory, stating “God has manifested his mercy in fulfilling by our hands what he had promised in ancient times” (Raymond, 378). He gives the example of the princes and kings of the Saracens who, despite rising up against them, were “by gods will” conquered and overcome (Raymond, 378). After this victory, God humbled the men by sending them into a nine month siege with Antioch where resources were scarce until “God opened to us the abundance of His blessing and mercy and led us into the city, and delivered the Turks and all of their possessions into our power” (Raymond, 378). Clearly, Raymond believed that God was on their side, and although he would test their faith, would always reward them with victory. However, he did state that in the moment he and his men did not at first give God the credit he deserved. It was not until the men were at their weakest and sickest that they became fully aware of the divine hand that was leading and protecting them. Having to resort to cannibalism due to famine, it was “by divine admonition” that...

Rhetorical Analysis Of Alfred M. Green's Speech

...During April 1861, the first month of the Civil War, Alfred M. Green gave a speech in Philadelphia. The goal was to persuade African Americans to prepare to enlist in the Army. He also used his platform to talk about the unfair ways the African Americans were being treated, not only in the South but also in the North. Green had to use a few different methods to persuade African Americans to enlist in the Army, while also speaking about the issues for which they had to deal. Green's main persuasive point is reminding his fellow African Americans what the United States was founded on “freedom, and of civil and religious toleration.”. By reminding his audience of the American ideology, Green hopes this convinces them of their need to go to war...

Egypt Military

...Ancient Egyptian Military A trumpet blares and two masses of armed men rush toward each other. It’s a battle between the ancient Egyptian Military and the Nubian Military. Egypt began forming an army in the Middle Kingdom. When Egypt was without a pharaoh, they fought each other with weapons such as bows, clubs, and spears. They wore linen kilts and leather straps around their chest. Without their army, ancient Egypt wouldn’t have become one of the greatest civilizations in the world. The army was very important to the ancient Egyptians. It was considered to have formed when Nebhepethre Mentuhotep I united Egypt in the Middle Kingdom. Men who wanted to join the military gathered by the mayor of the village. The governor of the territory chose the best men for recruitment. Men of the upper class became charioteers. Scribes started as pay clerks but later advanced to Scribe of Recruits. Soldiers first trained in barracks. They went home when they weren’t needed. Even if they were at home, they shared the booty and plunder that was taken by the army. Before fighting, the Egyptians and their opponents agreed on the place and time of battle. There were no ambushes and they fought in broad daylight on open ground. There was a trumpet signal to begin when both sides were ready. They usually fought on land but the occasional warship was used. Soldiers used medicine to heal battle wounds. They used bandages for broken bones, needles for surgery, and moldy bread to stop cuts from...

Stele Compare & Contrast

...battle scene engraved on this stone slab is between Naram-Sin, ruler of the Akkadian people, and the Lullubi. At the top of the stele there are three suns that shine brightly onto mountain in which Naram-Sin is marching his army up in a diagonal path. In the sky just below the suns and on the mountain there are cuneiform script printed that describes the victory. The cuneiform that is on inscribed on the mountain is just on the right side; the left side of the mountain is bare. The cuneiform inscribed confirms that this stele depicts a battle that was won at Zagaros Mountain. At the base of the main peak of the mountain there is an injured Lullubi with a spear in his neck. The Lullubi people are scattered throughout the stele in a very disorganized fashion predominantly on the right side of the stele. Their weapons are depicted as inferior to that of the Akkadian people’s, some are broken and some are smaller. Naram-Sin is depicted much larger than anyone else in the stele. The use of hieratic scale here amplifies artist’s decision to place Naram-Sin in the center of the composition. Naram-Sin is holding a sword, a bow and a spear as he tramples over his fallen foes. He is shown to possess well defined muscular features in addition to a horned helmet. The army that he commands is dressed in similar garments and is marching in unison together up the mountain. The Akkadian force makes up the majority of the left side of this composition. There is a tree depicted towards the lower...
