The image that chose looked like it two different animals. The author of this sculpture is Leza McVey also known as Sullivan. She was born in 1907. In her artwork, you can see that she started her piece with a pinch pot. She also looked like she slip and score then added the legs. This paper will explain the sensory qualities, formal qualities, expressive qualities, and technical qualities.
The sensory qualities of the piece of these two images are that a rounded piece of clay with added details. The neck on the first piece is longer than the first piece. The neck on the first one is like a giraffe neck. The neck on the second animal neck is more like a normal neck. The first one body is slim and the second body is thicker. One of the sculptures is thicker than the other one and one is taller than the other. These things are almost the same as the sensory qualities. The theme is a repetition in both pieces. They both symbolizing the same thing.
This artwork makes me think of my big sister and I. I am kind of her shadow, but I'm not completely like her. We have some characteristic of each other. I feel that this sculpture are a sign of depression because it does not have any bright colors symbolizing happiness. The message that I pull from this is that everyone is different in their own way but yet have some common factors as others. They may not work the same way as others but they are there and we can not do anything about the situation. It also kind of has a mystery sense of mood.
McVey pieces were made out of stoneware. Her taller piece is named The stoppered bottle. This was built in 1951. The type of medium used on that particular piece was designed. The smaller thicker piece name was Tri-footed Bottle with stopper and she made that in 1965. The medium used for that one was glazed ceramic. Most of her artwork was bottled-shaped with a stopper in for the opening. She had a strong respect for stoneware because it had a natural organic form to
