... this isn’t always the case. It has become common for an organization to ditch their ethical codes for the prospects of pleasing stakeholders and making profits, abandoning all sound reasons. On December 29, 2009 an article was written by J. Commins about Genesys Health Systems. According to the government, Genesys Health System, a member of Ascension Health, violated the False Claims Act by falsely billing Medicare for services that were not performed on patients. The alleged fraud was brought to the governments attention in a whistleblower lawsuit by a contracted auditor named Wendy Buterakos. Genesys Health System agreed to pay the federal government $669,413 to settle the allegations in which Ms. Buterakos received $133,882 from the settlement. Genesys Health System never admitted to the fraud, instead they stated that the mistakes in billing were made due to the claims made by physicians. It is an understatement to say that Genesys Health Systems action were unethical. In healthcare it is important that the clinical and management ethics are based “on a concept of health care professionals as moral co-fiduciaries” (Freund 2010 Ethics). Healthcare leaders focus should be to protect and promote the health related interest of the patients. They must also work with stakeholders to ensure the patients interest is protected. When faced with an ethical dilemma...

Since in healthcare changes happen so fast, they are more than likely predicable. Even though change is recognized, the employees what to be able to understand why change is occurring and how it will affect them in the present as well as in the future. Also, I will describe at least two scenarios in situations in which patients are non-English speaking and qualified language interpretation is not provided. I will highlight the key ethical principles to be considered and the implications for the patient in each alternative. ...Financial Environment Paper By T Hardman HCS/577 Financial management within health care organizations can be viewed in a lot of different ways. According to Siddhartha S. Syam & Murray J Cote (2010), “at the beginning of the 21st century, health remains one of the areas of crucial concern for millions of Americans” (p.158). With many changes done in health care legislation, it's giving health care organizations the opportunity to move in a different direction when it comes to reimbursement methods. The government will reimburse most health care organizations depending on the quality of care provided to the patient. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is what stands out most when talking about reimbursement and the requirements needed when making a claim. For example they highlight operating rules for each HIPAA transaction, the new standards for electronic fund transfer and health care claims, and health plans to certify compliance with the standards and operating rules (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, 2014). So as we all know there are many different types of healthcare organizations that provide medical services to patients in need. Throughout this paper, those kinds of organizations will be touched on along with their differences and similarities of the financial entities for-profit, non-for-profit, and government agencies. The examples I would like to highlight from each economic environment are (for-profit organizations: Private practices, group practices...

...is not what we say, but it is how we say it. A quality education and career training are sound investments for a bright future, an illustrious career, and a successful life. Individuals who complete more years of education have greater access to higher paying jobs-such as management, professional, and related occupations than those with fewer years of education. “Where one goes to college can have effects on one's future education, occupation, and income” (Karen, 2002, p. 193). Self-discipline, sacrifice, patience, perseverance, and positive attitude should be sufficient motivating factors, and a reminder that a good education pays off eventually by reaping the fruits of hard work. Physical well-being, personal wellness, and good health are part of personal responsibility. “Participation in physical activity should remain a high priority to facilitate maintenance of healthy body weights” (Liebman, 2005, p. 95). Personal drive, ambition, and desire to succeed are necessary attributes that help in overcoming any obstacles. Volunteering, part of personal responsibility requires time, and flexibility to help less fortunate members of the community, and may work in homeless shelters, children’s, and nursing homes, hospitals, churches, correctional institutions, and schools. Learning from our past can help avoid repetition of mistakes in the future. Responsibility means doing the right thing and not blaming others for our actions. People who drink and drive risk getting...

...mostly define a child’s acceptance and good relationship with things within the environment. Good socialization skills are developed when humans are exposed to as many things as possible. The more events that a child encounters and has positive reactions to, the better response he/she will have when these events are repeated throughout the course of life. It is important that you make the socialization process as entertaining and rewarding as you possibly can. This means that during this process, your infant will need to accept being handled and being touched by other humans so that she will not fear strangers (healthcare providers, or people whom they are introduced to.) This will prove beneficial when you have to take the infant to the health clinic per se. Make sure that all the experiences a child is introduced to are pleasurable experiences. That way the child will build a good association between the event and the reward. ...The weight loss industry is making millions every year on Americans. So why are so many Americans continuing to gain weight at increasing numbers? Could it be diets and weight loss supplements are detrimental to the overall health of so many Americans? The unhealthy reliance on appetite suppressants and the restrictions of certain food groups generally don’t work in the long term and can even be dangerous. The low cost of diets and the promise of fast results can certainly encourage many Americans to diet. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention more than 20 million Americans use dietary supplements, including multivitamins, minerals and herbs. The rise of diet supplements from 42% in 2006 to 62% in 2010 has only fueled the growth of dietary supplements and diet plans to a multimillion dollar industry (Center for Disease Control, 2011). The weight loss industry encourages individuals to improve their overall health by dieting. The industry approach suggest people can eat poorly and just take a diet supplement and have the same results of someone who eats well, exercise and takes care of their health by getting regular checkups. This is farthest from the truth according to a CNN report. Dr. Roberta Anding, a registered dietitian and director of sports nutrition at Texas Children Hospital, stated “while some supplements can be helpful in losing weight they are not match to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. “ Studies haven’t shown any significant difference...
