I am interested in becoming a participant in the Deloitte National Leadership Conference. I am currently studying for a degree in Accountancy at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. From the start of my first accounting class I read about the esteemed reputation of Deloitte services. One day after listening to current employees speak about their experiences I was immediately interested in Deloitte.

My education at the University of Illinois has granted me with many opportunities to strengthen my ability to work well in a group as well as my leadership skills. In my business classes we are given multiple group projects where I have gained much experience in working together with others. I am usually working with students that I do not know personally and that has strengthened my ability to work as part of a team where I listen to the others opinions, ask for help when needed and effectively accomplish the work we are given. Aside from working with others in the classroom I am also a board member of a club named U.N.F.A.S. (Unidos Nuestra Fuerza Avanzara Siempre) which is a latino/a housing organization that provides workshops and philanthropic events to help students in a variety of ways. For example, I was involved in a workshop where we organized a panel of students to speak to freshman about our experiences at the University of Illinois. We mentioned resources utilized and gave advice about how to make the best of their time at the university. My position as liaison has both improved my communication skills and allowed me to work with the other board members to make important decisions. In my meetings with other organizations it is my job to inform them about the programs and workshops that we are doing and try to form collaborations to spread publicity, help with food and costs.

As mentioned in my resume I am a recipient of the Chick Evans Scholarship which is an esteemed four-year full tuition caddie scholarship. I received the scholarship based on academics, work ethic, leadership and character and I am confident that I will continue to improve these qualities. Becoming a participant in the Deloitte National Leadership Conference would be a great opportunity to do so.
