List at least three people who provide each of the types of social support described on the previous page. Now reflect on the following questions. (You could write out your answers and/or share your responses with a friend or colleague. If you discuss your answers with a friend, you will be putting social support into action.)
• In general, how do you feel about your social support network?
I feel pretty good about my support group. I could improve in instrumental support and also expand my network so I’m not relying on the same people for several different types of support.
• Does your current support network meet your needs for social support?
Yes, but I would like to have more in informational support.
Are all of different types of social support (emotional, informational, instrumental, companion) covered adequately?
I feel like I can improve in areas
Do you have enough people in your social support network? Do you think anyone in your support network might be feeling overextended?
No I feel I don’t have enough and rely on my mother for too much and she might feel overextended.
Do the people in your network provide the quality of support you would like? If not, what could you do to make the situation better?
Yes, I feel so.
Have there been any recent changes in your support network? If yes, what has been the impact? In what area(s) are you most feeling the change?
Yes, there has been a huge impact in my companion support. For a few years I was disconnected from a few of my family members and now we are all talking and hanging out again. It makes me feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulder that I didn’t even realize was there. Having them has made me happier, brought out some of the good characteristic that I lost and hadn’t gotten back yet since being sober. Overall having this impact has made

Social: If no support is given to Juho to avoid social isolation, he may lose close support, may deteriorate without anyone noticing, and his mental state may worsen from a lack of external interaction if he becomes preoccupied with his internal experience (Ellis,...

Green Growth

..."Green Growth": A Necessity Green growth is a new buzzword among the policymakers around the world. For many policymakers it's a new magical word that can play a very significant role in the development of a country. Green growth is viewed as a key to sustainable growth. It has been recognized that there is an urgent need of transition towards green growth to achieve sustainable development and prosperity. As per Asian Development Bank "... green growth is an imperative not a luxury, for developing Asia". It is still not clear whether 'green growth' is a new transitional shift or just another gimmick to cover up inconsistencies between economic and environmental objectives of governments. There is no universally accepted definition of green growth. But normally it is being treated as a synonym to sustainable development. "Green growth is fostering economic growth and development, while ensuring that natural assets continue to provide resources and environmental services on which our well-being relies"-OCED. So green growth basically emphasizes on the efficient use of natural resources that minimizes pollution and environmental impacts at the same time it also plays role of environmental management and natural capital in preventing physical disasters. Main focus of green growth is low carbon growth that promotes growth with the help of creation of new environment friendly products. Green growth is matter of both economic policy and sustainable development. Politicians normally...
