Hbs107 Assessment Task 1

...‘Children as young as seven’ (Doherty, 2011, p.09) are being admitted into hospitals to receive treatment for Anorexia Nervosa (AN) and Bulimia Nervosa (BN), both eating disorders (ED) characterised by restricting and bingeing the amount of food they intake. Both stress and social support are factors which can lead to having negative effects on a child if they are implemented incorrectly. In saying this, stressful circumstances such as bullying and a need to live up to parent’s expectations can be both socially and psychologically stressful for a child to have to experience. Similarly, social support is a key factor in reducing the number of children being diagnosed with eating disorders as it enables a child to understand the importance of good friendships and can help a child avoid suffering from social phobia. Although nobody knows the exact causes of AN; (Ehrlich, 2008, Causes Section, para.10) ‘many experts agree that several factors work together in a complex fashion to lead to the eating disorder’. Children can often ‘feel worried, anxious and unable to cope’ (Wilkinson and Marmot, 2003, pg.12) if parents continue to stress their child to meet high expectations. Evidence shows that ‘Women with eating disorders are less effective in their coping than women without eating disorders’ (Troop, Holbrey and Treasure, 1998, pg.157), therefore coping with an ED at a young age would be much more difficult. ‘Continuing anxiety, insecurity, low self-esteem, social isolation and lack...

HSC Physics Assessment Task 1-Part B: Hermann Oberth

...HSC Physics Assessment Task 1 – Part B Hermann Oberth Hermann Oberth was a German Physicist who made large contributions to the field of rocketry in both the basic theory and the design of rockets. In 1922, he submitted a physics dissertation while studying at the University of Heidelberg on this subject. This paper examined mathematically the possibility for a rocket to reach escape velocity and leave the Earth’s orbit. He also supported and explained the notion that rockets could be propelled in a vacuum, an idea which was contrary to most scientific opinion at the time. These pioneering ideas have formed the basis of our modern space program. His work mentioned the possible effect on an astronaut’s body of experiencing the g-forces required to escape the Earth’s gravitational pull. Finally, he discussed the further possibility of launching spacecraft into orbit, which has led to our modern widespread use of communication satellites. His original paper on rocket design, entitled “Die Rakete zu den Planetenräumen”, was controversial and was widely rejected by the scientific community at the time. His work received greater support later, and he received the “Rep-Hirsch” prize in 1929, giving him $10,000, which he used to...

Edexcel Gcse Business Unit 2: Controlled Assessment Task 1 What Would Be the Most Suitable Location for a Small Business to Start Up in Your Local Area?

...Edexcel GCSE Business Unit 2: Controlled Assessment Task 1 What would be the most suitable location for a small business to start up in your local area? Chicken cottage is one of the leading halal fast food services in Keighley which I am going to talk about. The original one was founded in 1994. In Keighley it is on the Cavendish high street. Their mainly are a fast food takeaway but can also eat inside so it is sort of a restaurant as well. It sells different types of chicken such as burgers, stake, etc. it is mainly a take away and you can also eat indoors. The four factors to do with location that I have decided to investigate are: Transport links, location of competitors, market (customers and population) and access to Labour. My primary research which I did was I went to Chicken Cottage to have an interview with the owner to find out why he chose the location for his business e.g. was it access to customers or staff, etc. I also carried out a primary research questionnaire of customers to see how they travelled to the restaurant and how far they were prepared to travel, etc. The location of the building is on Cavendish Street, Keighley. This is a busy high street. I also asked him if I could leave questionnaires for the customers he agreed For my secondary research I went online to see the competitors for his business, plus I researched if his business was easily accessible and it turned out that it was. I also got a number of the population of Keighley...
