...Working Conditions and Employee Performance in the Public Sector (A Case Study of Madina Polyclinic) By Mr. Kley Elikem Pius pius3000@yahoo.com Abstract Management’s new challenge is to create an environment that attracts, retain and motivates its workforce. This study seeks to examine the working conditions on the performance of employees. It is also aimed at identifying the perception of employees about their working conditions. The study employs descriptive and sample survey techniques. A sample of 50 employees was selected from the Madina Polyclinic in Ghana where the study is focused by the application of stratified and sample random sampling methods. Data was collected by the use of a well-designed questionnaire. It was found that casual workers were not satisfied with their working conditions while aside them other employees were somehow/ averagely satisfied with their working conditions. Working conditions such as quietness of workplace, office arrangement, availability of working materials, salaries, bonuses and allowances and job security have an influence on the performance of employees. It was thus recommended that to ensure improvement in employee performance and productivity, measures should be put in place to establish a conducive working condition for employees. 1.1 INTRODUCTION Management’s new challenge is to form an environment that attracts, retain and motivate its workforce. ...The attached assignment is NOT a model answer but rather an indication of how one syndicate group approached the problem set for that semester. It was one of the better papers but ……… Please note that the Executive Summary portion received a fail as it did not concentrate on what the group had recommended – the alternatives and why which one was chosen. They did, however, develop some alternatives, discussed them and then decided which one should be selected within the main body of the paper. It is also worth noting that for a 2008 assignment; almost all of the references were from that year. There are NO textbooks listed. The Just-in-Time philosophy is one such practice, however, research has predominantly focused on its technical features and on organisational variables, with surprising little research at the individual level. This paper examines JIT at an individual level and argues that the manager’s locus of control orientation would interact with their degree of JIT involvement to affect managerial performance. The results of a survey of 60 managers employing JIT, demonstrate that an increased degree of JIT involvement leads to a more positive effect on managerial performance for...

...Swot banking The rise of retail lending in emerging economies like India has been of recent origin. Asia Pacific’s vast population, combined with high savings rates, explosive economic growth, and underdeveloped retail banking services, provide the most significant growth opportunities for banks. Banks will have to serve the retail banking segment effectively in order to utilize the growth opportunity. Banking strategies are presently undergoing various transformations, as the overall scenario has changed over the last couple of years. Till the recent past, most of the banks had adopted fierce costcutting measures to sustain their competitiveness. This strategy however has become obsolete in the new light of immense growth opportunities for banking industry. Most bankers are now confident about their high performance in terms of organic growth and in realising high returns. Nowadays, the growth strategies of banks revolve around customer satisfaction. Improved customer relationship management can only lead to fulfilment of long-term, as well as, short-term objectives of the bankers. This requires, efficient and accurate customer database management and development of well-trained sales force to develop and sustain long-term profitable customer relationship. The banking system in India is significantly different from that of the other Asian nations, because of the country’s unique geographic, social, and economic characteristics. Though the sector opened up quite...
